Unable to cast to Google TV Streamer.

I am not able to cast from iPad or iPhone to Google TV Streamer ( or Chromecast Ultra). Streaming works well but not casting. TV is visible in Home but when I try to connect, it says TV is unavailable.  I can cast to 3 other TVs in the house. All are on the same network. I have reinstalled twice. Signal is strong. Streaming works well, but not able to see TV from list of devices.

Sorry what exactly are you trying to cast, because iPhones cannot natively cast to Android devices.   You can cast Netflix or YouTube of course, but if you are trying to cast your phone's screen or something you would not be able to.

Assuming you are trying to cast a supported app, make sure that both the phone and the streamer are on the same wifi network.  First step in trouble shooting would be to power cycle your router, phone, and chrome cast / streamer.

Thanks for coming back on this. We want to cast our cable programing through the Spectrum app as we do on all of our other TVs through Chromecast.  About 2 weeks ago the Chromecast Ultra on this TV is no longer being seen by Google Home. We purchased the TV Streamer with the intention to solve this issue. There is something wrong, it seems, with how Home is seeing this TV and the Chromecast/TV Streamer.  The casting device (ipad) is on the same network as the streaming device. We are able to stream, we just cannot cast. We have tried factory reset. We have rebooted router, etc. Any advice would be welcome.

What type of wifi setup do you have at home?  Ie .. what type of router.. is it a mesh system..do you have multiple network names (for example a 2.4 and 5.0 ghz one) .. are devices on the same network?  If a mesh system, does it have ap isolation off?  Lots of variables here.. surprised that it only is happening on one device, so I'm leaning towards a signal issue or wifi issue here.   Have you tried switching out Chromecast from a working tv ?

Thanks for responding. We have a single network name. I do not believe it is a mesh system. I tried to set up the old chromecast on another TV and the same issue happened. The communication between Chromecast and Ipad does not work, but it does on other TVs.  I am wondering if there is something wrong with the Home setup. The device is visible in the Home, but unable to communicate. It suggests that they are on different networks, but have verified that they are the same.

It's a wifi issue for sure if you moved a known working device.   You need to look at your router / wifi network.   Check signals at the non working tv vs the working ones, double and triple check network names, signal strength, etc.   It's got to be a separate network or something else funky going on.

I think it is resolved for now. I put the Samsung TV on the router extender connection and then my ipad on the _EXT and we can see and use the Streamer. Odd that the TV streamer is showing the main wifi connection. Not sure if it is serendipity or this actually fixed it. Odd that the TV's wifi connection had anything to do with it. Will try the old Chromecast device on another TV with the _EXT and see what happens.

Thanks for checking.

Same problem except I can't cast from my P6P to the Streamer. Every other device in my house works for casting. I had this problem on the CCWGTV also until I uninstalled updates for the Chromecast Built-in app. Unfortunately, Streamer comes with newer version of that app.
