Problem: When we turn on chromecast and Google TV two things happen:
a) streaming of shows is slow/laggy (ie dont render as fast, when we rewind/fast forward it lags)
b) whole wifi network speed/bandwidth is weakened (ie having a zoom call or watching a video on another device is impossible)
Setup/context:
> based in europe at 2 floor home with fiber connectivity of 1Gbps.
> the ISP Router is on 1st floor near staircase (centrally located) which acts as base network (call it network A).
> Have tp-link deco extenders with mesh network to help reach all areas of 1st floor (call it network B).
> chromecast and TV are on 2nd floor (near staircase), but because angle is weird, the default wifi signal of router (and therefore networkA) is weak, so have used two ways to bring better connectivity to 2nd floor (wifi mesh and LAN/ ethernet via powerplug extender) but both cause same problem.
> At the moment slightly better (at least able to see some bits of shows) when we have chromecast on ethernet to networkA (using a tp-link powerline adapter; 1 device on 1st floor on router and 2nd at plug next to TV on 2nd floor)
> working off of the mesh of tp-link deco (networkB) is even worse.
> have tried resetting chromecast, updating device, totally shutting down mesh, nothing improves the situation
> when chromecast is on and starts being used (navigating apps, or putting on a show) the wifi of main router (ie networkA) is all sucked up by the TV (via powerline extender), not allowing any other device to perform any streaming function (cant watch youtube, cant even watch stories on instagram)
Ask:
What can we do to improve the situation? We want to have chromecast operate and simultaneously allow other devices to operate equally (e.g. someone watch youtube, take a zoom call)

Hi jespkBe,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. I find this situation quite bizarre. Ranging from 25 Mbps to 30 Mbps is enough for a Chromecast device to cast or play even 4K content. I haven’t encountered a situation like that here in this community. I think the possible causes were interference or positioning. Since you’re using Ethernet connectivity via a wall outlet (inside wiring), I suggest you try an unmanaged switch. That is, if you have no means of repositioning your devices. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Kimy
