Hi EVPDave,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand that your Chromecast was running fine powered directly by your TV's USB port, but immediately after installing the latest update, it now displays a "not enough power" message and won't function. I appreciate your questions about what changed to cause this new power inconvenience and how to get your Chromecast working again. I'm happy to look into this for you.

To get started, please provide some more information by answering these questions:

  • What model of Chromecast do you have? You can use this Google Help Center article to help identify your device: Chromecast and Google TV Streamer specifications.
  • What is the status of the Chromecast LED light?
  • Was there a recent power outage?
  • Have you tried to connect your Chromecast to a different TV’s USB port?

In the meantime, please try the following recommendations:

  1. Unplug your TV from the power source for about one minute before plugging it back in.
  2. Reboot the Chromecast device:
    1. Unplug the Chromecast device from the USB port and the HDMI port.
    2. Leave it unplugged for one minute.
    3. Plug it back into the USB port (try a different port) and to the HDMI port.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
