To resolve the issue of Google Nest incorrectly showing that you're casting to your brother's TV, restart both your casting device (phone/tablet) and the Chromecast/Google Nest device, ensuring they're on the same Wi-Fi network. Open the Google Home app, select the Chromecast device, tap "Stop Casting," and check for any rogue apps or devices casting in the background. If the issue persists, reset the Chromecast via the Google Home app (Settings > Remove Device > Factory Reset) and set it up again, ensuring no unauthorized devices are connected to your network.

Hi shaks23,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! It seems like your Google streaming device repeatedly shows it's casting to your brother's TV, despite your attempts to disconnect it. No worries, I’d be happy to help with this!

To better investigate the inconvenience, I’d like to ask the following questions:

  • What is the specific model of your Google streaming device?
  • Is this the first time you’re experiencing this behavior?
  • When you attempt to stop the casting, do you see any error messages or other notifications appear on your phone or TV?
  • Have you tried the streaming device on a different TV to see if it behaves the same way?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
