Nest Hello Gen1 Camera

Migrated my Nest Camera to Home App and read that "this can be undone and reverted to Nest". Now when opening the Nest App the message is "This camera can't be transferred back to the Nest app." What the **bleep**ing **bleep**.

Well thank you so very much for that advice... I removed the camera from the Home App and it disappeared from Both Home And Nest. Since I'm not at location (home) I could not yet factory reset the device but tried to click on the "Add product" from the Nest-webpage. The "Nest Doorbell (wired)" is greyed out and non responsive (other products are clickable). Lets hope that the Factory Reset changes that issue but as of now I'm quite pissed about pretty much every aspect regarding the Nest Hello gen1 camera... The only thing I can think of that perhaps give me a minor positive feeling is that it still looks nice but that doesn't fly. I thought I bought a camera with features, not a featureless piece of plastic that looks nice...

Hi @rikardkjell.

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear you migrated your Nest Hello from the Nest app to the Google Home app, received an error message that tells you to revert the process, and that now, after opening the Nest app, you get an error message saying your device can't be transferred back to the Nest app. I understand how confusing this may be since you can't control the doorbell in either app because it gives you an error. I appreciate the information you've shared. No worries, let's work together to get this resolved. Let's try the following steps:

  • Could you please check if you have any options to transfer or remove the Nest Hello device directly from the Google Home app?
  • Open the Google Home app, navigate to the Nest Hello settings, and select Remove device. After that, please factory reset your Nest Hello and then re-add the device to the app.
  • If the removal or transfer options are unavailable, you could also attempt to resolve this issue by deleting the Google Home structure itself. Remember, it will remove all associated devices, settings, and automation from your Home structure.

Please keep me updated on the progress.

Regards,
Jonathan

Removed the camera from Google Home App. When trying to add it again in the Nest App it notify me that this camera is migrated to Google Home. Continue to add the doorbell via the Home App. The doorbell is now added, up and running, however the main problem where never solved by this extra work. It was a workaround that ended up in the same place. This gave me some intimate high quality hours with Home Assistant, re-adding the doorbells credentials and reconfiguring the dashboard cards affected. Back to square one, how nice.

Problem solved. Nest in the trash replaced by a Reolink Doorbell (D340W).
