App not being installed

I'm trying to download 'Movistar plus', a Spanish popular app from my (WIndows) computer. For devices like CCWGTV and another (non google) Android TV device it tells me not supported.

The app has  location restrictions (must be in Spain). I'm in Spain right now and not using VPN.

Funny thing is when I tried to dowload it from the device itself in Google Play, I find it on  CCWGTV but not in the Android TV device

Ah, well I'm not sure how I can help as I am not in Spain, but i did find a community forum for Movistar that I believe is talking about the app, since I don't speak Spanish I'm guessing here, but it does seem to imply it should work.  Can you ask someone on the forum there, as they may be more experienced

As an alternative, I did read that you could cast from the Movistar app on your phone to the Chromecast as a workaround, but I know this isn't a permanent solution.

It's possible the developer has not made it available for certain devices or platforms, your best bet is to contact the developer of that app and inquire.

No.. It's the app of the main service provider in Spain (Movistar).  Other users on the Amazon reviews report that they can use it.

Thx for your interest. IN that thread, the problems occur after the app has been installed. I'm having problems installing it

The casting with this app is interesting. You can only cast if you have the TV Box (connected with fiber) into your own home. So that's not what I need. It's also interesting the with the APP there are some premium channels you cannot watch

Hey there jj001,

Just out of curiosity, in your Google Home app, do you have your location entered? It's a possibility that your devices might not think you're in Spain if you don't have your location entered on Google Home. It may also help to change your country in the Google Play Store as well. Near the bottom of that second article, there is a section called Fix problems when you update your Google Play country, I would follow those steps if updating your country doesn't work right away.

Best regards,

Jeran

I don't use Google Home, just configure CCWGTV with the remote.

I can get it from the Google Play in CCWGTV now. I think it was after I manually installed the .apk

But still, it's not present in Google Play on my Windows browser.

That is interesting that the app didn't show up normally, do you happen to have a Google Pay account, or have you added a debit/credit card onto the Google Play store? That may help Google realize what region you're in when you have to enter your billing address for the payment method. Is this the app here?

Jeran

I don't have any payment methods.

YEs, this is the app.

It seems to fail only for all Android TV devices.

Would be able to add a payment method in, then afterwards clear your cache and data on Google Play, then see if the country gets updated and allows you to download the app?

Why would that work? I see no problem with other devices (regular Andorid phones) associated to the account

It's just a way to have Google Play update your country. However, if you are saying that other applications and devices that are associated with the account are working properly, then there may be an issue on Moviestar's end when it comes to device availability on Android TV based-devices.

Thank you,

Jeran

There is no issue. I have installed Movistar+ in other android devices and other accounts. It seems to be an issue with the Google account

I added a payment, and my country shows as Spain as per this URL

Ah, in that case, I'll go ahead and lock up the thread for now then. If you have any other questions or concerns in the future, feel free to start a new thread.

On a side note, if you think there may be issues with the Google Account itself, here is a link to that community and help center.

Thank you for helping out, Ashepherdson!

Best regards,

Jeran
