Cant see my google devices from Nest app

Hi,

I setup a home and rooms in Google Home. I purchased and setup two wired nest cams in Google Home. I purchased a Nest Aware Plus subscription. Everything works fine in Google Home app. I need to save same clips from the 24/7 recording. To do this I need the Nest app (phone and online) I logged in the Nest app using my google account. I can see my Google Home in the Nest app in the settings section. In the main screen I see my "Home" and it says away since 11:37PM (i dont know why). On the online Nest interface, when i click on Home, I get the message "Can't set Home to Home. There was a problem connecting to the Nest service. Try again." The problem is that I cant access any rooms or devices that are configured and work fine in Google Home. I need this before I loose my 24/7 recording after 10 days.

Thank you

Hi BigBrown,

I’m sorry for the delay. I appreciate your efforts here. Viewing the camera live feed of your Nest cameras (wired, 2nd gen) isn’t available in the Nest app only in the Google Home. This includes all 2nd gen Nest cameras and doorbells. For 1st gen Nest cameras and doorbell, you can view their live feed on the Nest app and Google Home app.

Follow the steps below to create and download a video clip:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Select your camera.
  3. Tap History near the bottom of the screen.
  4. Scroll to an event in your camera's video history timeline. You can also tap Full history for a list of events.
  5. Choose the event you want, then tap Event details.

Near the top of the screen, tap Download download nest app icon to save the video clip to your phone. From there, you can share the video clip via email or social media app.

Note: You can only download video clips from detected events in the video history. You cannot download video clips from footage with no activity. The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be.

Thanks,

JT

Hi,

My goal is to record 24/7 and save some parts of these recordings. They recordings are not detected events. When will this feature be available for 2nd generation devices?

Thank you

Hey there,

We don't have any news to share about downloading clips that aren’t detected events off of the 24/7 video history in the Google Home app, but we're always looking for ways to improve our services. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — we'll take this as feedback. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community page https://goo.gle/2JvnMRy for any updates. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I won't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

Check out this link on how to file feedback.

Best,

JT
