Deleting an old Nest

Shadydave

I cannot figure out how to delete an old Nest product from my Nest App.  We have a Nest at home and last year we rented a house and we're given access to their nest.  I ONLY want to delete the one we no longer use. But when I go to manage my account it says it cannot delete it and I have to go to Google Home. However, that product is not listed in my Google Home. So I'm stuck. I just want to get rid of it...but it seems impossible. Any advice?

Hey there Shadydave,

I'm so sorry to hear about the issues that you're having when trying to delete an old Nest product from your app, I'm sure it might be confusing, but I'm happy to look into this for you.

Upon doing some investigation, I was able to find an article that will help you with removing a device from your account. Please review this and let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Hi, thank you.  I saw and tried the fixes.  Unfortunately the Nest App gave me the message "Go to Settings in Home" and the device is not registered in my Home app because it was a rental property.  So I'm in a bit of a stuck loop, where it won't let me delete directly from the Nest App.  Any thoughts on that?

Hey there,

In order to delete an old device you'll need to do a factory reset on the device and then link it to your account.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you, yes, I saw that.  But it still presents an issue because the Nest Device is not mine.  It was added to my Nest App when we long term rented a house -- we no longer are at that house and don't have access to the Nest Device.  Perhaps I should write to the owners?  I just wish I could remove it in my Nest App myself.

Hey there,

Unfortunately since that is the only way to unlink the device, the best way would be to contact the owners and have them do a factory reset on the device.

I apologize for the inconvenience.
