Do I need both Nest and Google Home to view and manage Nest products?

Hello all, 

I recently set up two new Nest cameras and had to within the Google Home app. After doing so, I can see them in the Google Home app but not in the Nest App. Similarly, I cannot manage my nest entry way doorbell/camera and Nest Protects in the Google Home app and need to do that in the Nest App. 

Do I have to have both of these apps or can this be consolidated? It is kind of annoying to manage some within one app and the others in another.

You cannot consolidate them. We've been using both the Google Nest app and the Google Home app since purchasing a battery camera 2 years ago.

Google Nest is just beginning the process of allowing users who are willing to try out moving just their 1st gen indoor cameras from the Google Nest app to the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app:
