Nest account linked to mystery Google account

Help! I am trying to migrate my Nest account to my Google account and from the Nest app to the Google home app. When I follow the steps it says "this Google account is already linked to another Nest account, please select another Google account". I have no idea how that happened or what to do now. How can I resolve this and KEEP my Google account?

I suppose you could try logging onto either the Nest app or to the home.nest.com web page with your Google account and see what happens. If it's really already linked to another Nest account, you should get that Nest account's "home" information.

Just to confirm — are you migrating your Nest account to the same Gmail address? If yes, I'm afraid this can't be done. You can try either one of the options below instead:

• Use the Google Account that is linked to another Nest Account.
  1. Sign into the Nest app with your Nest Account.
  2. Disconnect all your devices.
  3. Sign out of the Nest app.
  4. Select Sign in with Google > sign in with the linked Google Account.
  5. Reconnect your devices.
• Or use a new Google Account.
  1. Create a new Google Account.
  2. Migrate your Nest Account to the new Google Account.

Yes I still need help. I can't find out what mystery Google account my Nest account is linked to. This shouldn't be hard, just tell me what is linked to my Nest account that I have had for many many years.

Sorry for the delay. I'm afraid we don't have a way of checking what Google account is linked to your Nest one. 

Just to confirm though, are you trying to migrate your Nest account to the same Gmail address? For instance, you have a Nest account which is'example@gmail.com'. Now, are you trying to migrate it to the same 'example@gmail.com'?
