Nest vs Google Home web app failure

I am linking to a previous post to highlight just how badly Google failed with its new "Google Home" service

I was coaxed into buying a 2-pack of Nest battery indoor/outdoor cams in Feb 2022, and didn't get around to setting them up until now.

In addition to the terrible "Idle" feature, which I complained about in a separate post, I also learned that these cameras are only usable in Google Home.

Google Home is one of the worst products Google has ever made. I am shocked its last as long as it has (the post I clipped goes back to 2021).

Here are the major problems:

1) No web based portal -

for people who work at a computer and not on a phone all day (most people) how could Google possibly think this was useful? The old Nest portal was perfect and caused me to buy multiple products (doorbell, thermostat, cameras) that all worked seamlessly together and displayed right on the homepage.

2) No ability to use new Nest cams on the old Nest portal -

this is not clearly explained at all to your customers. in fact, in reading your community posts, for almost everyone its a terrible surprise that they end up hating Google for.

If both of these issues are not completely resolved, in addition to the Idle feature I posted separately, I will never buy another Nest product again and will go with a competitor for my next property.

I cannot stress enough what a complete and utter disappointment Google is on this, which is rare for such a well run company.

Hi Brad, I will attempt to do so when I have some time. But at this point, in analyzing this issue, it seems to be a business strategy stretching back well into 2021 that Google has vociferously resisted changing.

There is only so much time and money people will be willing to waste before switching away from Google, despite its decades of loyalty in other well run products (search, chrome, maps etc).

Google has destroyed Nest users loyalty with Google Home, and I doubt I will waste much more of my time. Instead, I will buy Ring or other products.
