Adding a Google Nest Cam Indoor (wired) to the Nest App

Hi there. I just bought a Google Nest Cam Indoor (wired) and tried to add it to my Nest app but it transferred me to the Google app to set up. Now I have it set up in the Google app but I want to be able to view it in the Nest app because that’s where all my other cameras are. How do I add the camera to my nest app?

You can't. Google is in the process of shutting down the Nest app. They have said that when the are done all devices and functionality will be on the Home app. Until then, it's a mixed mess.

I just bought and installed the battery cam.  Quite shocked that I can't see it in the Nest app - even if they are going to shut the app down.  My feeling is that fragmenting viewing and management between old and new is a sad and unfortunate statement to the user community.   Google should put a big WARNING notice on the product box that the device only works in Google home.   On searching for this, I see this situation goes back at least several months.  Not good.

Addendum: I am missing being able to view the new camera in a web browser.  I see some postings of "future" capability, but I need the Nest viewing, clip management, zone management via the web *now*.  If someone knows a way, please let us know.  Failing that, it is quite likely I am going to return the camera to Home Depot tomorrow with the complaint that what is printed on the box "Nest Cam" is a deliberate mislead as the product does not work with the Nest app.

The Google Home app has so much less funtionality for the cameras than the Nest app does. I'm going through it now and I don't see a way to download clips from video history. Am I just missing it? And is there a way to watch video history live like in the Nest app, by scrolling quickly with your finger? All I see is individual clips saved based on motion detected. That doesn't allow you to quickly find an event without going through each clip individually.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

That's a bit of a nonanswer @Brad - this article calls out the complete and messy limbo customers are in right now: https://9to5google.com/2021/11/01/nest-app-transition-comment/

So, the real ask here is when will parity be achieved in the Google App with with Nest App we've all been using, and what's the timeline and roadmap to completion?

Just bought two outdoor NEST cameras myself and was unaware they would not working with the NEST app (who in the world made that terrible decision?!?!?). How does a product not work with the app its named after? I will be returning both later today.
