Battery Nest Cameras Won't Connect

Vetter91
Community Member

Bought two-pack of Nest Cam (battery) in June on sale to replace older Nest Outdoor Cam (wired).  Have had no success in setting up either camera.  Have tried all the suggested trouble shooting tips multiple times to no avail.  The deleted wired Nest Cam can be reconnected without problem, even after being deleted.  A Nest Cam (battery) that was installed last year continues to work without problem.

When attempting to setup on Home using phone app, the "finding device" takes a very long time, sometimes resulting in "Unable to Find"  message.  If it does, moves to next step, the app may locate the network list, but will not connect to the selected network.

Hi Vetter91,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that the Nest Cameras Battery is not connecting for the error message unable to find.

To assist you better, i'd like to ask you a few questions:

  • What app are you using?
  • What’s the color of the LED status light on the camera?
  •  how far is the camera from the router?
  • Is there any error code when it appears unable to find message?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Rusell

Using Google Home in Android, and have tried using Home on the PC.

The led status light turns white initially, then turns blue before I attempt to connect.

The camera is 8 feet from the router.

The error message states unable to connect, with the option to try again or exit setup.  When exiting, the camera chimes, flashes yellow.

There's one Nest Cam (battery) already connected for the past 15-18 months.

Hi Vetter91,

Thank you for your response. As you already respond to each question therefore i'd like to share with you a few troubleshooting below:

  • Factory reset the Nest Camera battery, check at this article: Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell
    • Note: The camera must have the blue light to be ready to add
  • Turn Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection Bluetooth.
  • Sign out then sign back in on the Google home app
  • Restart the Google home app
  • Restart the phone or tablet then add the device back.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

Regards,

Rusell

Huge FAIL! Followed instructions in exact sequence, and twice attempted connecting both cameras. Same result as before with message "Unable to connect to network. Check password."

This seems like a tremendous waste of time. These cameras are somehow defective. All other devices including Nest are, and have been connected on the same network with same settings with no issues.
