Battery cam isn't recording or marking history of activities

I added a new battery cam in my Home App.  I already had two wired nest cams and a nest home in this app.  These three cameras are showing my recordings, notifications, history etc just fine.  My new battery cam does not show live feed unless I click LlIVE.  Saving battery I guess.  What I can't figure out is why I don't see history when I am certain my battery cam would have seen activity.

I am able to see history from activity seen during the first few minutes of my initial set up a few days ago.  But nothing in the week or ao since.  Today three landscapers mowed my grass and trimmed my shrubs, but nothing is in my history and I received no notificationa.  I do see live when I click LIVE, but it appears nothing is being recorded when there is activity. So nothing is being loaded into my history for recall.

Our Google Nest Camera (Battery)--plugged in with the optional power cord--detects events and records 24/7 like our older wired cameras (except that it lacks some of the functionality of our older cameras because it works only in the Google Home app).

You could first try plugging one of your cameras in with the charging cord to see if it functions the way it should and isn't faulty. By the way, the 3-meter charging cord enclosed with the camera is not rated for outdoor use. But if you want a second one free, this post says "We also heard feedback from many on the multi-pack cameras only offering a single charging cable. We recognize that this doesn't work for all users, so we are offering a free additional cable(s) to customers who purchased the two-pack or three-pack. Just contact our support team.": https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...

Google Nest sells 5-meter and 10-meter charging cables for outdoor use (as do places like Home Depot and Best Buy).

We didn't want or need the battery option either, but Google Nest quit selling the wired outdoor camera.

Because the Google Nest Camera (Battery) is in "Idle" mode when running on battery power, it is slow to wake up and recognize (and then record) events. (And when on battery power it only records detected events.) We've had one for a year, plugged in with the optional power cable, with a Nest Aware Plus subscription, and it does fine (except that it works only in the Google Home app and therefore lacks some of the Google Nest app capabilities of our older Google Nest cameras). But if I turn off power to the camera and walk in front of it, the camera doesn't pick up the event or send a notification.

Thanks for the note.  I was afraid this was the case.  If I keep the cam plugged in will it record and report like the standard wired only camera does?

I actually bought a two pak which only included one charging cord.  I'll see if I can buy an extra cord.  I have no nissues with keeping it plugged un.  Didn't really need the battery option.

Yes, those cords should power the device as they are compatible cables. Here is an article that should be helpful to answer your question.

I don't know whether the 3-meter charging cord that is included with the camera functions the same as the 5-meter and 10-meter power cables. In other words, will the 3-meter charging cord power the camera in the same way that the optional power cables do, or does it ONLY charge the battery while leaving the camera running on battery power?

@BradDo you know the answer to the above question?

@Brad

I was asking you this question:

Does the 3-meter charging cord included with the Google Nest Camera (Battery) directly power the camera in the same way that the optional 5-meter and 10-meter power cables do, or does it ONLY charge the battery while leaving the camera running on battery power?
