Beware if your nest starts flaking like mine.

I thought this was just a protective film so I left it until one day I had to reset the camera and discovered it was the glass chipping off. Unfortunately mine was out of warranty and support don't want to know. Had issues with the iOS app not playing back my notifications for 4 months. So have given up and moved to another brand.

This really sucks mine has started doing this as well the device always ran hot and am sure that's what causes this.

@paulruk

There are now 289 threads about "peeling" Google Nest Hello Doorbells in this forum and 33 threads about "delaminating" Google Nest Hello Doorbells. One of our Nest Hello doorbells--20 months old--is peeling. That Nest Hello and another one of ours also won't ring the internal chime anymore due to a failing internal battery (another defect with hundreds of posts here in this forum). It certainly seems both problems are clearly known defects. Yet in spite of all these reports Google Nest says they "cannot" replace them if they are more than one year old. "Cannot"?? It seems rather they will not do anything.

In previous posts, I have suggested that customers with Nest Hello doorbells that are peeling--or failing to chime due to a failing internal battery--be given a discount on a new, RE-DESIGNED Google Nest Hello Doorbell (NOT the new battery doorbell) that has a user-replaceable internal battery obtainable from Google Nest and that corrects the susceptibility to peeling. So far, no one from Google Nest has responded to this suggestion.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I am so sorry to hear that you are having this peeling issue with your Nest Hello doorbell! I can imagine this has not been the best experience with your doorbell. I would suggest that you actually reach out to Support for further assistance as we do not process replacements, or anything like that in these Community Forums.

Best Regards,
Brad

Unfortunately I have contacted support as I said in my original post but they will not replace it as it’s now 5 months out of warranty. So that’s why I’m posting mine to warn people this is a common problem.

Hey folks,

If your device is out of warranty, we will not be able to replace it. I know there are protective silicone sleeves for sale out there, and I would suggest you go with them, or purchase a new doorbell.

Best regards,

Brad

Mine started to peel too. It's way past warranty but it isn't as bad as others.
