Can't Set the Time on Google Nest Cameras

I'm new to the community...having a problem setting the time on my Google Nest cameras. I searched the forum and found this answer, but it didn't work for me because there was no "Time section" listed in the Device settings. Can someone give me further direction?

"Have you tried these steps? 

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap and select your Chromecast device from the list of available devices.
  3. Click the Gear icon on the top-right corner to access Device settings.
  4. Scroll down to the Time section of Device settings.
  5. Tap Time Zone and select the new time zone of your choice."

We've had Google Nest doorbells and cameras for 4 years, and I'm not aware of any ability whatsoever to set the time zone for a camera. In fact, all Google Nest devices (except, perhaps, Chromecast devices, which I am not familiar with) seem to use the address specified on your Google Account to find the timezone stored in Google's worldwide databases (except, perhaps, Chromecast devices, which I am not familiar with). This has led to numerous complaints in this forum from customers where Google has assigned an incorrect timezone to their address; those customers cannot get Google to correct the erroneous timezone assignment, or even to acknowledge the issue.

Wow...I wish I knew that prior to purchasing (and mounting) 3 Google Nest cameras. I've no idea where they got the time zone from because it doesn't match anything in our hemisphere! The time is WAAAAY off. Thanks so much for confirming the problem and letting me know that there is NO SOLUTION. 😟

@lepsilak thanks for reaching out here in the community. Your Nest Camera would depend on the zip code entered to your home structure. Did you move to a different state after creating your home structure? Try creating a new home structure with your current zip code now and see if it will follow your correct timezone. Let us know if you have more questions.
