Changing Wifi Settings on the Nest Camera (Battery version)

Radius

Hello 🖐

"First time caller, long time friend of the Google show".

My questions are..

  1. Can I manually change the Wifi network setting on the new Nest Camera (battery version)?
  2. Does the new Nest Camera (battery version) support 5Ghz WiFi networks?

I cannot seem to find any options in the Google Home app.

The reason for these questions is that the camera seems to have automatically during set-up connected to my home 2Ghz WiFi network, which has a lot of interference on from other 2Ghz networks in my neighborhood.

So I'd like to change the camera to use my 5Ghz home WiFi network instead.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

The only way I know of changing your WiFi settings is if you remove the camera from your Google Home app and then re-add it, however by doing this you will lose all of your video recordings from the cloud.

Also please be aware that unless you are within the US you will only be able to use the 2.4ghz WiFi band and the US has access to both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

If you have a mesh network then this could be the reason why it is only connecting to the 2.4ghz band.

Hope this helps.

@Lee765,

Thanks for the advice. I do have a mesh network set-up with both 2Ghz and 5Ghz networks. I will remove and add the Camera as you describe. Maybe I can manually select the network at re-install steps.
