Continuous monitor?

I'm trying to monitor some nocturnal Critter activity and unfortunately event detection is not picking them up. 

Is there a way to setup continuous streaming over night? Or heighten the detection. 

I've read as some posts suggesting wired input may be helpful for this use case?
