Deleted my nest account 2 years ago - didnt remove one camera from account...

kaduffey

I gave my protects, outdoor cam and indoor cam to a friend,

The protects and outdoor setup fine for him, but the indoor camera says "already registered to another account" or some such,

IN that I deleted my account 2 years ago I cant get to the place that allows me to remove the camera from my old account.

Is this camera now trash? Factory resets, setup on computer or IOS fails with the security alert.

Hello kaduffey,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'd like to know more about this. To confirm, what is the light status of your Nest Camera? Hit this link for the right steps to reset it. Let us know how it goes.

Best,
Emerson

Hey kaduffey,

Thanks for getting back to us and for giving me a heads up. I'm so sorry that I forgot to attach the link. I've updated it and attached the link on how to reset your Nest Cameras to the factory default. Remember that resetting it will remove all of your recorded events.

Keep us posted.

Regards,
Emerson

I can only assume the system removes URLS

I believe i did factory reset. I think the issue is the camera is on the cloud still registered to my old dead account, and during setup

it checks

I cant remove from account is the issue. Since I cant access the account to remove it.

Remove your camera from the app

Note: Your camera needs to be connected to Wi-Fi for it to be removed from the app and factory reset.

  1. Open the Home app or the Nest app.
  2. Tap the camera that you want to reset.
    • Tip: To help restore your settings after resetting your camera, write down or take a screenshot of your camera settings.
  3. Tap Settings kaduffey_0-1672342138123.png

     Remove device kaduffey_1-1672342138124.png

     Confirm.
  4. If you’re giving your camera to someone else, you’re done. If you want to reconnect your camera to the app, simply go through camera setup in the app again.

Hi kaduffey,

It's me again. How's it going with your Nest Camera? Were you able to hit the link I've shared? You're right, it should have a pulsing blue light during setup. That's an indicator that it's ready to be set up.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Emerson

as I said in my second response. I had done a factory reset prior - and at setup it informs me I cant set it up and to release the camera from its current account registration.

The issue is it is tied to a dead account - since I cant recover that account Im throwing away the camera

Hello kaduffey,

Thanks for getting back to us. If your Nest Camera were last connected to the same Wi-Fi network where you try to pair them to, you need to change your Wi-Fi network's Service Set Identifier (SSID) before you start to pair them again. Otherwise, if you plug your Nest Camera back in without changing your Wi-Fi network details, your Nest Camera reconnects to the server and blocks the bluetooth pairing process. when this happens, follow these steps:

  • Unplug the camera(s).
  • Wait at least 48 hours (2 days).
  • Before the pairing process, change your Wi-Fi network SSID.
  • Plug your Nest Camera back into a power outlet and connect them to the account using the new Wi-Fi network SSID.
  • Once they're paired, change the Wi-Fi network SSID back to the original SSID.
  • Use the Nest app to update your Nest Camera's Wi-Fi settings to reflect the original SSID.

Keep us posted.

Best,
Emerson

Hey kaduffey,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

Regards,
Emerson

Just lock it; I threw it away;

After all the resets (regular and factory), and reloads it never got past the 'registered to another account please remove and retry" message

Hello kaduffey,

We appreciate you getting back to us. This is not the experience we wanted you to have. I know where you're coming from but that is the only way on how you can link it to a different account. To confirm, were you able to unplug your Nest Camera for at least 48 hours and connect it using a different WiFi network?

Thanks,
Emerson

Lights to blue flashing after physical button reset  - but when I pair it -  "assigned to another account". Im trying to give this to a friend, not for myself.
