Dog barking

I bought the bundle of 3 Nest camera (battery) for the main reason to register"dog barking" of my neighbour, then I found out after 3 contacts to customer service that the dog barking detection only works when wired. I wired my camera from back yard and my neighbours dog has been barking all night but not one barking event detection on my history! So in the end, my main reason to buy the cameras has no reason. Any other person having this issue?

I also would like to add that the customer service for Australia, 1800, never ever answers the phone, only listens a recording informing to call on business hours or they are not available, but I have been trying since November in deferent hours and days!

@Ozrence

We have one of the new Google Nest Battery Cameras. Unfortunately, unlike our existing Google Nest cameras and doorbells, this new camera works only in the Google Home app and therefore has no way to flag sound events other than carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms.

I have done this exact thing but I'm using the older nest cams and my subscription is the one that records 24/7.  When I look at the timeline I can see a little gray dot where ever it heard a sound.  And a cluster of dots is usually my next door neighbor's dog barking.  I'm not sure what the timeline looks like with the new cameras but maybe it h as a similar way of showing a sound event?

The timeline for the new Google Nest Battery Camera in the Google Home app is not as good as the one in the Google Nest app for older cameras.  It does NOT flag sound events and it uses only ONE color for all events.  (Supposedly, it flags carbon monoxide and smoke detector alarms, but we don't have this turned on since they almost never go off.)

Hi Mpls,

I'm very furious to find out such disappointment! You are saying that the bundle I paid 900 Australian dollars has a search tool on the history for "Dog barking" that it doesn't work?!

I have contacted Google customer service 4 times and NO ONE was able to point it out this observation, and also spent hours with terrible phone calls and also a phone number for customer service in Australia provided by the app that never works!

I AM FURIOUS!

I have received this reply from a Senior Support member. I have plugged my cameras several times and even if I put a video with dogs barking right under the camera it doesn't and never did capture any sound/alerts! What's your thoughts?

"Hello Fernando,

This is Carlos with Google Nest Senior Support and I received your case today. After reviewing the case, setting and current setup, I found that in order for the cameras to detect Dog Barking you must have the cameras constantly connected to a power source. This is because the camera would drain its battery supply too quickly . Your cameras are currently reflecting that Dog Barking alerts are not compatible with your current setup. I am attaching an article that would be helpful to learn more about sound notifications.

Please click HERE to learn more: Note: Sound detection is only available on Nest Cam (wired), Nest Cam (battery) with wired setup, and Nest Cam Indoor 2nd gen.

I hope this is helpful and I apologize for any inconvenience that the system limitations may present.

If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to reply back to this email and I would contact you back within 2-3 business days

For your reference your case number is XXXXXXXXXX. If you need more help, you can contact us again and reference this case number or reply to this email to reopen your case.

Have a new question? There are lots of ways to get back in touch with us below.

Thank you,
Carlos"
