Doorbell not loud enough

ATesus92

Hey guys, I installed my doorbell (battery) today but there is a problem: i can hear the person at the door very clear on my mobile phone, but the person at the door almost doesnt hear me. The bell's speaker is very quiet. I have set the volume in the home app at max but it doesn't help.

Can somebody help me please?

Hi there, yes this is still occurring. I have realised that it only happens on Samsung phones. All other devices broadcast the sound loud enough. Some people say it is because of the microphone array on Samsung phones being incorrectly used.

I have heard that some Samsung phones have trouble with certain features. I can suggest that you Restart your device, possibly even Factory Reset it and then try again. Check your settings, anything that you feel could be worth looking into to see. I know nothing about Samsung phones, I have purely used iOS devices for the past several years, so I am not much of a help knowing where to go on those phones.

Best regards,

Brad.

Hi @Brad ,

I would do what you suggested but that clearly won't have any effect as that is not how software works. Also if you do some research you will find this is a known issue with ALL Samsung devices going back years.

I have seen you respond a lot on these forums but I think it is important to remember that if you don't have anything meaningful to contribute it is better to just say nothing at all.

Cheers,

Loic

There are multiple reasons why I would like to remind you to please be respectful to all users that would include any Community Specialist, myself included. I am required to respond to this thread as it is part of my duties as a Community Specialist/Moderator over these forums. I am also aware that Samsung devices struggle hardcore with most Nest products at the moment. I ask that you continue to have patience, and thank you for your feedback you have provided.

For your convenience, I have linked the Community Guidelines for you to review if you wish.

Best regards,

Brad.

Thx for your help! Do you know any solution for this problem? Besides changing the device xD

By the way - I also have a Google Nest Audio, which tells me whenn somebody rings at my door. What do I have to say to my Nest Audio to get a connection to my doorbell? Does that work at all or does it only work with my mobile and my Nest hub?

There is no such fix for this issue still, but I can suggest you try to lower your phones volume first, and then see if that changes the sound. I saw someone state it worked for them, but I do not have this product to test it myself. But the Nest Doorbell (battery) is not meant to ring like a traditional smart doorbell. It send a notification to your phone, and can send an alert or sound to your connected speakers and displays if you have them.

Best regards,

Brad.

Hi Ibra80,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue. To know more about this, I'd like to ask some questions: what is your phone's make and model? What is your phone's OS and OS version?.

Give these steps a try:

  • Check the volume on the device where the live or recorded video is being played and make the necessary adjustment if applicable.
  • Verify that the audio settings on the app is correct :
    • On the Home app, tap the doorbell or camera Settings  Audio, and toggle the Microphone on.
    • On the Nest app, tap the doorbell or camera  Settings, and set the Microphone on.
  • When applicable, adjust the volume slider until you're satisfied with the audio.
  • Confirm if the audio issue happens on other mobile devices.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Emerson

There is 3 phones in the house and all Samsung's, S10, s20 and a note 20 ultra, all on android 12.

The volume options are at full.

Tried it with a iPhone or pixel 7 and it's fine.

Seems to be a problem with Samsung phones

Hey folks,

@Ibra80 to confirm, you mean to say that when you use your Android phones with Android 12 OS version they cannot hear you, and when you use your iPhone or Pixel 7 they can hear you properly? Keep us posted.

@MikeK1 that's awesome. Were glad that it's working fine now.

If you have other questions and concerns, feel free to let me know.

Emerson

@Ibra80

Have you tried to change the volume on a separate non-android device to test if it is specific to your android devices?

Brad
