Doorbell push button sticking when pressed

peteg

This seems to be a mechanical issue but may be something else. My Nest Hello has started sticking when the doorbell is pressed. This leaves the chime halfway thru it's normal cycle, producing a continuous hum until I go to the doorbell and get it to return to the normal unpressed state.  Any ideas how to clean/unstick this? Or is it caput?

Thanks - peteg

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, as I can imagine it has been an inconvenience. I would love to look into this further for you. As your device is most likely out of warranty, we would not be able to replace it, but you may be able to carefully find some mechanical cleaner to gently clean the button edges if you feel the need too. If it continues, we have a couple other doorbell options for purchase on our site here. Please let me know if you still need help.

Best regards,
Brad

No luck. I think that the button is malfunctioning.

Unfortunately, a picture won't clarify anything. The doorbell looks completely normal. Thanks for trying to help. - Pete

I am having the exact same issue. I just purchased a new Google Nest doorbell, but if anyone has suggestions on an easy fix, I would be happy to return the new one

I tried a few ways of unsticking/lubricating the button. None worked, so it will have to be replaced. I may check out some other brands.

Yes, I thought about going with a different brand, but I have so many Nest devices as well as an annual subscription, so it seems I’m locked in.

Hello and thank you.  I have not heard from anyone yet. I have a new doorbell that I haven’t opened yet and could return if there is a possible fix. Any suggestions would be welcome. But from what I am reading from the user above, doesn’t sound too promising
