Google Nest Doorbell not working (wired)

Pam123

There seem to be many threads about non working doorbells but no Solutions.

So lets try again, can anyone help?

Our Nest Doorbell (Wired) was working fine since I got it in 2021. Recently it kept dropping and acting weird.  Looking at the device it has green LED but no blue ring light. I tried to factory reset but it won't do that. The green LED goes out after a few seconds but the ring light stays off, no orange or flashing blue light and no sound. I removed it from the transformer power and plugged it in via microUSB to a socket plug. I have deleted it from the app. Still it won't reset so I don't think it is a power issue.

Can anyone help?

What helped me was to uninstall the doorbell, remove the chime/power wires and reinstall which means you'll have to go through the initial setup just as if you were installing out of the box.  If you have the original instructions, follow them.  Remember, your Nest doorbell DOES NOT like a 5g wifi connection.  After I did all this, my now works perfectly including connectiviity to both the Nest app and the Google Home app.

...one more comment...at the time I did this, I was using a Pixel 2 with Android 12.  I'm now using a Pixel 6 with Android 13 and my Nest doorbell even more smoothly.
