Ordered a Nest Doorbell 2nd Gen for my mom back in March and after install it looks like the hex screw has come out and gotten lost.  Can we get a replacement hex screw to keep the doorbell in place?

Thanks

Hello adelosreyes,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We understand that you need the hex screw to put your Nest Doorbell in place properly. While we don't have a spare parts to replace it, we would recommend you to bring your hex key to your nearest hardware store and get a hex screw that would fit in it. The size of your hex key that came with the unit is 3/32 or 2 1/2 mm. That size is mentioned here in this video.  Let us know your update here.

Emerson

I appreciate the response, however this now raises additional questions and the video does not have all the details either.  While I now have the information about socket size, I still need to know two pieces of information so I can go source this thing myself since replacements are not something that support is willing to do or knows how to do.

I need the following.

  1. set screw length so that it doesn't stick out of the top of the unit
  2. set screw thread size so that I can get the appropriate thread not strip and damage the internal threads.

What are these details so that I can get the appropriate item?

Hi adelosreyes,

Thanks for getting back to us. I apologize for the inconvenience — let's get this sorted out.

While we don’t have the exact details of the security screw, have you checked the box that the Nest doorbell came in? There should be an extra security screw included in the package. More information here.

I appreciate the help, EmersonB.

Best,

Lance

Yes.  We looked at the spare parts and there was definitely not an extra hex screw.  It only came with the one that was in the unit.  There were no spares.
