So Google updated their nest cams AGAIN and further ruined Night vision, day time HDR got a bit better but nowhere near as good as it was with 1.65 software, I about had it with Google, look at these picture and tell me if I'm imagining things, the picture on top is the new 1.69 software and the one on the bottom is the 1.67 software just a few minutes before the update, look how fuzzy and grainy everything is with the update, it's like everything is out of focus, STOP MESSING WITH THE CAMERAS GOOGLE, we paid money for this, it's literally unusable at night now.

Hey everyone,
We recently began to roll out a software update for Nest Cam (battery), Nest Doorbell (battery), and Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) that addresses an issue where some users experienced decreased video quality when operating in low light environments. This update will be rolling out to all users over the coming weeks.
Best,
Edmond

It did not. I’ve also done multiple factory resets.

Thanks for trying that. Do you have examples of the camera before and after the update that you would be willing to share?

How do I add photos?
10-28-2023 07:47 AM
In the reply box there is a little photos at that top that allows you to add them or your could paste a link to a shared photo from Google Photos. Under the reply box there is also a Browse option to upload the photos.
10-28-2023 07:51 AM
Unfortunately I have no photo option on safari or chrome so unsure how to add photos. Also unsure why I don’t have this option..
11-01-2023 04:15 PM
I think they have removed the option but you can host them elsewhere and link to them. I use IMGUR for that sort of thing.

Let me get this straight. First, Google denies there's a problem with our Nest Cameras. Next, they try to convince us all that these are all isolated cases due to some kind of user error (dirty lenses, bad WiFi, resets, etc.) Then, when the mainstream media confirms what we've all been telling and showing them for the past month, they remove our ability to upload Nest Cam photos in an attempt at what I can only assume is damage control. Nice.
I get them blowing us little guys off, but how in the heck is a big Nest customer like ADT not losing their mind right now?
11-05-2023 01:44 PM
lol
11-05-2023 01:55 PM
"generic resolution" to all problems! Obviously didn't work.
10-29-2023 09:55 PM
It's the software. There was a months long thread with hundreds of posts about how bad software version 1.67 was and how much worse it still got after 1.69 and Google disabled comments for the thread. It's a real problem on their end and they don't want to take accountability for it.
11-01-2023 02:29 PM
It’s definitely the new software version. It started on my back yard camera and quickly became unviewable. I assumed it was on my end so I bought 2 brand new cameras, no help. Then I assumed it was my Wi-Fi or internet, I upgraded my internet speed to 1 gig and bought an additional router satellite. Still unviewable at night. I wish google would have left nest in charge, they knew what they were doing. The only good thing is I can still return my new google cameras for a refund.
11-01-2023 02:33 PM
Yes it really sucks how they have ruined the cameras.
11-01-2023 05:43 PM
I have numerous resets, also made few tech tickets n had technical support out here for the past month for various reasons n I have told them all the night vision worked excellent the first month half since its extremely dark n blurry. No one in the company seems to not know how to fix it an all we get told is its a MAJOR ISSUE with ADT bc their cameras have **bleep**ty LED N cameras are cheaply made not to last.

To be honest, neither of @SuperAdam 's posted Nest images are particularly good.
11-01-2023 10:45 PM
Yes, because software 1.67 was already bad and it got worse with 1.69, that's why my title says "further ruined".
11-02-2023 07:26 AM
@SuperAdam , Oops! Sorry. I totally missed that. Thanks for starting this thread.
11-02-2023 01:02 AM
Add my voice to the many with this issue. 1.69 ruined the night vision and it is blurry.
11-02-2023 03:47 AM
In low light, firmware version 1.69 does not work when there is an external light source (street light, security light etc.) and night vision is turned OFF in the camera settings.
If people turn their night vision to AUTO, you will get better results (not perfect, but better).
Clearly a bug in the firmware as depending on an external light source previously produced acceptable results for these cameras.
11-02-2023 04:04 AM
An update to fix the issue was promised elsewhere by end of the month. Looks like that has come and gone with no solution in sight. Shouldn’t Google be refunding us for every month of Nest Aware since THEIR update ruined our ability to use THEIR product?
11-02-2023 02:01 PM
Same thing has affected my night vision on me nest cam indoors (used as a baby cam in my toddlers bedroom. Now it's barely usable as I can't see anything properly due to this software update)
11-03-2023 07:18 PM
I just bought two nest floodlight cameras and during the day, the video feed looks just fine. At night it's God awful. Blurry and Grainy. Based on hundreds of messages I've seen, googles firmware updates are setting the camera quality back.
11-03-2023 07:28 PM
Yep. Please let Google know your dissatisfaction. Also, don't listen to a thing they say about troubleshooting e.g. reset camera, move closer to wifi, "wipe lens" (haha, such a joke), etc... It's their firmware, they know it and for whatever reason they can't rollback when there is a mistake so we have to wait through the process of them having a media outlet report what 1000's have already reported for them to finally acknowledge the issue and then probably have to wait even longer for a firmware fix.
11-04-2023 02:23 PM
I am having the same issue. The cameras are a joke now. If anything happens at night they are worthless. Google fix this!

I find it interesting that all the national retailers are discounting Google Nest Cameras fairly significantly.
Do you think Google Nest has a tremendous drop in sales due to these quality problems? If so, that could mean that Google Customer Service is NOT informing Google Manufacturing of these problems, which is NOT informing Google Sales and Marketing. So all the latter knows is that Google Nest sales are down, but they have no idea why.
I sure hope that's not the case because if it is, this is a poorly managed company—which makes my purchase decision even more concerning.
11-04-2023 05:38 PM
It's the end of year, everyone is doing sales on everything.
11-04-2023 07:00 PM
Yeah, but these kinds of discounts have been happening all summer long. Almost ironically, since July.
11-05-2023 10:43 AM
It's just an update problem. They've done this before, they'll patch it and fix this and break something else. It happens constantly with Google products.

The 1.65 software worked fine , 1.67 useless! and 1.69 unusable !!!....what is going on ? ...the night vision is just a complete mess!
11-05-2023 10:49 PM
I have also had my low light camera quality go into the trash in the last couple of months. This is extremely aggravating, and makes my cameras quite useless for their intended night time security purpose.
10-31-2023 05:33 AM
The 1.69 software has made my 8 cameras worthless. We purchased and installed them based on their reviews and features and Google has continued to downgrade the quality which has rendered them useless. They are not clear, the nighttime video is worthless. It is so blurry it’s not capturing any type of movement like an animal or person unless it’s right in front of the camera, I could care less if it captures the bugs flying directly in front of the lens. Daytime is slightly better than the 1.65 version but not sharp like it was before 1.65 and 1.69 software versions. Keep listing your negative comments on any site that sells these cameras, cancel your nest aware plus subscription, and maybe they’ll take this seriously. Also, why can’t I post an image showing the quality of the live and recorded feeds?
10-31-2023 07:48 AM
Google Nest apparently removed the ability to post images in this forum a few days ago, after they cleared out hundreds (if not thousands) of spam posts from Indonesia or Thailand with animated flashing images about gambling. The flood of spam posts about gambling is continuing--without images--and for the last couple of days they are in Thai.

Hello everyone,
@Adj, thank you for reaching out to the Community. We understand that you are having issues with the night vision quality on your Nest Camera. We are happy to help you troubleshoot this issue.
Try checking if your infrared light is reflecting off of a surface near your Nest Camera. This can cause the video to appear blurry, grainy, or washed out.
Give these steps a try:
Move nearby objects that may be reflecting the infrared light. This includes things like shelves, windows, window screens, and walls.
Looking forward to your response.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
Regards,
Emerson

How about you look at "go to answer" in this thread so you can see it's been acknowledged as a Google problem before you Bot Script the generic scripted response we've all seen for months. Google's script book is as flawed as 1.69
11-08-2023 03:13 AM
@EmersonB My six cameras looked fine before the firmware upgrade. Are you saying all six of my cameras are now reflecting off a surface, all six suddenly got dirty, all six are suddenly on a slow internet and all six are "my" issue? Do you think I'm the only one with the issue?
Or to put it another way, there are over 250 posts on this thread, times how many cameras? Hey, I have news for everyone, all of your cameras are reflecting off of something now. What a joke. (Except not funny, but pathetic)
11-08-2023 03:15 AM
It probably happened to thousands of cameras right at the same time when 1.69 firmware was released. What a coincidence! 🤣
11-14-2023 05:27 AM
When is Google going to address the issues with the latest 1.69 software? People have invested a lot of money in the cameras AND paying for a Nest Aware Plus monthly subscription. We are not getting what we paid for with the cameras or the subscription, this is bad business practice and Google needs to address this ASAP.
11-07-2023 12:34 PM
Isn't that convenient.
11-03-2023 05:28 AM
I have already tried all the things you said, tried them when google updated the software to the 1.65 version and that didn’t work. Then google updated that version to 1.69 and daytime was slightly better, night time is worse. If google would let us post pics I am happy to provide proof of the difference in the quality. The cameras are not the issue, google knows that it is the software. There are hundreds of comments about people experiencing the same issues I am having with my 8 camera (2 wired floodlight, 3 doorbell, 3 battery operated).
11-07-2023 08:18 PM
All my nest outdoor and indoor cameras look blurry at night with either night vision on or off. 1.69 was and is a terrible update. Lets hope Google fixes it and reverts it to how it was before.
11-08-2023 09:48 AM
Mine is the same. It is u usable at night. This sounds like a firmware issue. Please can we have an update as I have wiped the lens etc etc but it seems to be across everyone’s
