Nest Doorbell ring lag

I CAN'T INTERACT WITH PEOPLE AT MY DOOR IF THEY RING THE DOORBELL!!!

I have a wired Nest Doorbell connected to a 500MB fiber internet connection I run through Google wifi. If I stand next to the doorbell and run a speed test, I'm routinely around 350 to 380Mbps up & down. I can open the Nest app and look at the live stream from my doorbell camera and the lag is two to three seconds max. But any time someone rings the doorbell it takes at least 30 seconds to connect the camera view. All I get is a spinning blue arrow in the center of the screen. It’s been this way for at least a year now. I can only guess it has to do with a software update or something on the backend. It happens on my phone and my wife's phone. I have a Pixel 7 Pro, she has a Pixel 6 Pro. I have three different Google Home displays in my house, and it happens on all of those as well. The camera function is still valuable, but the doorbell function is completely useless.

@KingBeevr

With our 3 Google Nest Hello Doorbells, there is sometimes a delay before we can get the camera view up on our phones, but the camera view pops up immediately on our Nest Hubs.

Hi KingBeevr,

Thanks for posting in our Community, and I’m sorry to hear that your Nest doorbell isn’t working properly. We appreciate your reports here in the Community.

Let's try these troubleshooting steps below (try to trigger a notification to test after each step):

  1. Connect the mobile device to another Wi-Fi or cellular network.
  2. Connect the Nest device to a different network.
  3. Check for any Android updates.
  4. Uninstall the Nest app, restart your phone, and then reinstall the app.

Let me know how it goes.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Lance

Yeah, this has been going on for over a year so most of those things have been done by default.

This is my third Android device in the last year, it's her second. I'm pretty religious about making sure my devices are updated, including apps.

This happens whether I'm at home on the same Wi-Fi network, I'm out and about on a cell network, or I'm somewhere on the other side of the country on a different Wi-Fi network.

I have Google Nest Wi-Fi at home, and that's what I'm normally connected to. My ISP is Frontier and they use an eero 6, so I actually have another Wi-Fi network to connect to and I have connected it directly to that Wi-Fi. The results are the same.
