I just bought and installed a Nest Doorbell (wired) and followed the instructions, maybe unfortunately. I used the Google Home app and went through the whole installation process, and it works perfectly well with the Home app.
The challenge for me is getting it connected to the Nest app. My other camera is a couple of years old and started life with the Nest app. With my new doorbell, I've gone back into the app and tried to follow the process to add it. It wants me to scan the QR code for the doorbell, and I'm glad I still kept the materials in the box. I can scan the code, and the Nest app directs me to the Google Home app so I can set it up. I already set it up with the Google Home app, but apparently there's no way to get them to make the connection.
So how do I do this? Do I just remove the doorbell from Google Home and go through the whole routine again, or is there some trick to get the two apps to sync?

Nest Doorbell (wired Gen 2) is designed for and setup with the Google Home app, it cannot be added to the Nest app.

It's a bit frustrating, since the Nest Doorbell (wired Gen 2) is listed in the Nest app as a device I can add. I guess I'll remove it from Google Home and try it again via the Nest app to see what happens.

The "Nest Doorbell (wired)" listed when you're trying to add a product in the Google Nest app is the (1st gen) Google Nest Hello Doorbell, which Google Nest has now taken to calling the "Nest Doorbell (wired)". As @David_K said, you definitely cannot add the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) to the Google Nest app.

Would you care to share a screenshot as you definitely cannot add the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) to the Nest app.
