Nest Floodlight Offline due to Extreme Temperature

Well I recently replaced my Ring Floodlights with new Nest Cam Floodlights and now I am regretting this decision. It's been cold here in Calgary, Alberta Canada with a recent cold snap of -38°C(-36.4°F) and the two Nest Cam Floodlights are both showing offline due to "Extreme Temperature". These things should be able to work in cold weather settings. My old Ring Floodlights never had issues at -45°C(-49°F). I sure hope that my Google Nest Doorbell doesn't go offline now as well... Google please help with this issue. Power to the device works as I can flip light switch and they turn on but everything else is useless on these devices. Motion sensor isn't detecting and turning on the lights.

On your doorbell, is it the wired version (previously known as the Nest Hello)?  If it is, it should be fine.   If you're talking about the new battery version (but wired-in), yeah that's not going to go well (and at much higher temps than that, actually).  See https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Cold-weather-concerns-with-Nest-Doorbel...

Yeah the doorbell is the wired version of the old Nest Hello. More disappointed at their new floodlights having this issue right now when it should be capable of cold weather settings.

Ah ok.  Yeah I think your doorbell will be fine.  Lots of reports of very cold temp exposure without issue.     I am surprised the floodlight is shutting down, though.  I would think that device should be able to run exclusively off of the incoming power, and just let trickle charging stop in cold weather.  I guess it's possible there are some other issues with even attempting to charge at those temps.  The rated lower temp is -20C for that device so it's little more difficult to complain about it shutting down (but still disappointing).

Seems the Flood Light is rated to -20 Celsius, at least according to the tech specs. Maybe better to stay with Ring.

Not only the Floodlight. My new Nest Cam Outdoor (battery) wired too. But my old Nest hello door bell wired still working. Even my old nest indoor cam put in garage (about -10C) still working.  Calgary now at -32C feels like -41C. Kind of disappointed in Google now.

Reporting in, same issue in Ontario. What a joke, and I'm beyond disappointed. These new Nest products are just getting worse and worse. 

Old Nest camera's and doorbell are fine and still working great despite the cold. New floodlight and outdoor cameras are showing offline due to temperature. Bad enough I'm forced to use the Google Home app which is already hot garbage when compared to the old Nest app, now the new cameras can't even be reliable enough for a Canadian winter? 

Looking like this summer I'm ripping out all my Nest stuff and going full Ubiquiti. These products are completely useless if all they do during the winter is display a black screen with an error message.

Been without the use of my floodlights basically for the last 2 weeks given Calgary has been in a deep...deep...freeze. What a waste of $640+ for 2 Google Nest Floodlights as well as the Nest Aware membership. Frustrating for sure.

These cameras are working as they should be in cold weather climates. Please look over this Help Article for further information. Nest Doorbell (battery) and Nest Cam (battery) use lithium-ion batteries, and one characteristic of li-ion batteries is that they cannot be charged at temperatures below freezing (32F/0C) without causing permanent damage to the battery. Even though li-ion batteries can't be charged at temperatures below freezing, they can still power your doorbell or camera in sub-freezing temperatures. 

One other characteristic of li-ion batteries is that usable capacity decreases at low temperatures, with the result being that you may experience less battery life in cold weather than warm weather. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Having the same issue in Vermont. It was -1 last night but now today it’s in the 20s and still not working.
