Nest Hello Talk & Listen audio delays & noise

Community Member

Nest Hello Talk & Listen audio delays & noise.
It's almost impossible to talk to someone at the doorbell, even when I'm in the house. I can't hear them & they for sure can't hear me! The video is crystal clear & I can listen to ambient sounds outside, just fine. But when someone rings the doorbell, and I answer through the Nest app, they hear noise, like beeps & tones and partial words, as my voice is cutting in and out. I hear the same kind of stuff from them, too. At least I know to expect it, but the person at the door is looking all around like they're lost, or hearing alien noises, which made 1 sales guy so mad, he left! (Very effective!!! LOL) But, between all of that, and both of us hearing the dogs barking through the door AND delayed through the doorbell, the Talk & Listen feature is pretty useless for me. And, there's no way to adjust any of the speaker volumes, etc since it has IQ.

The app is up to date.

This happens on our Android phones and the Google Hub.  Thanks!

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far?

  • Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?

  • If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Yes, unfortunately we are still having this issue. I have tried the troubleshooting steps I found online & restarting all devices.  The only thing I haven't tried is a total factory reset. So I guess that's my next step...

Thank you!

Hey there,

Just wanted to hop back in here to see if the factory reset had helped your issue.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
