Nest IQ outdoor stopped working

Last week the power to my camera was turned off and now it will not restart. This has happened a few times before but after a few hours it used to reboot and start - now there is no green light and the camera is dead.

The plug socket is working fine, there seems to be voltage to the camera (using a voltage detector on the power lead) and I've tried resetting it with a paper clip.

The camera is 2.5 years old and has been reasonably reliable, but now is unusable and should be able to be turned off and turned on again. I understand it's out of warranty, but given it's high price it should last longer than this.

I can see a lot of other people have had this issue and the fixes suggested haven't worked for me or the others.

Any suggestions?

After weeks of not working the camera has now started working again. I have no idea why and it just suddenly came back on like it should have done in the first place.

You can close this issue, but Google/Nest have not helped at all - asking if I need assistance is not actually providing help or solving an issue.

 

If anyone else has this issue then the fix is to just leave it on for a few weeks and see what happens. I'll buy a different camera when this stops again.

Disappointing.

This to happen to me my only suggestion would be to search everywhere you can to try to find the power cord. Google does not sell them anymore and only keeps them on hand for warranties once they are gone they are no more

Hi,

It's still doesn't work and I'm not sure changing the power cable would help...I'd assume this is a hardware or software issue in the camera as it just won't restart after being powered off. This seems really a common fault and something that should be addressed or at least acknowledged by Nest/Google?
