I have Nest cameras and doorbell. I watch through multiple mediums like my phone and tablet through the HOME APP. I've never had any issues with the audio.
However my android recently got updated as did Google HOMEAPP and now I can't hear audio when I'm watching video or doorbell.
I've been in the nest setting to make sure microphone was on. It is. I also checked and rebooted my phone and cameras and couldn't find any resolution.

Since "Blueqoull" locked my previous thread because hes an idiot, I'll just repost it again....
Whenever I try to monitor my cameras via my phone, the sound activates in "in-call' so I can barely hear it. Obviously this is a well documented issue, yet no one at Google has seemed to come up with a solution. Do I need to throw these junk ass cameras away and go with a better brand or is Google going to fix the issue?

Hello everyone,
Thanks for the additional information. We're still working on this. For everybody who hasn't tried making sure the media call volume is set to max, earbuds or Bluetooth headphones aren't being used. And trying it when there´s no active call in the background. Please try it now and let us know if the issue persists.
I look forward to your responses.
Thanks,
Renz

😀OK, I am out of this horrible bug. Samsung Galaxy A70, Android 11.
I have downgraded Home app to previous version : 3.6.1.5, via ApkMirror, and sound went back immediately. The buggy active version is 3.7.1.4
Thanks to Ibrahim from Nest French support staff. Case ID 2-8994000035106
Previously called Nest staff with no luck. Case ID 3-0169000034647 😫
Good Luck all

Using the Home app to watch the live feed of a Nest gen 2 camera. The audio plays through the phone speaker, at the top of the phone. It doesn't play audio through the speakers on the bottom. I use this camera to monitor aging parents. I need to be able to hear them if they are calling. I see posts in this community and other resources indicating that many people have reported this problem, for many months. Please get it fixed quickly!

I found that my media volume was set low - I had to increase that, and THEN adjust the system volume (buttons) to actually hear something. Quite dumb.

I have read all these messages and tried the solutions. Clearly this is a software bug and needs a solution. Has anyone actually solved it ? Google will you offer refunds ?

I wouldn't go that far.
Again, on Android, there are volume settings for individual components - ringer, headset, media - PLUS the master volume. Kind of like on Windows. You have to make sure media is not set to low/off.

First, can people please go to https://home.google.com - or use another iOS/Android device - to see if audio is in fact being captured by the Nest cameras? By default, that site has audio MUTED (icon on the lower left of the image), so you'll have to unmute it.
Second, on Android 12 (I only have one device, sorry), the audio "mixer" can be found here (basically you have to start to change master volume, then use the three small dots to bring up individual volumes).

You can also go to settings, and audio (sound). Also confirm that your device isn't in do not disturb (all sound off) mode:
