All Nest cameras and doorbells throughout my home suddenly stopped streaming video to TVs equipped with Chromecast. The video feeds are still available through the Nest and Home apps, but when trying to stream to Chromecast (as I have done for years), the message is, "Sorry! It looks like the stream is currently unavailable from [camera name]."

Following because I am having the same issue.

hello wired, indoor and outdoor all same
i can see the stream on my hubs and hub max but even if while watching live view i cannot say show my stream on any other device
google tv is worst. cams appear fine in home view and can be clicked to go full screen but you cannot command by voice
and while we're here - youtube option overlays have been broken for nearly 3 years

Hi all, I've shared this with the Google Nest community team for review.
10-24-2025 11:12 AM - edited 10-24-2025 11:17 AM
Additional information:
When Nest Hello rings, the cam feed appears on my hub. However, when continuous cam feed is requested to the same hub, it's not available. So it's not the Wifi signal. As another user mentioned, all the usual resets were attempted and the problem persists. It started a few days ago. In my case, the problem applies to Chromecast and Hubs.

I have had the same problem for months. I gave up trying to fix it. For me it is intermittent. Some days I can watch my camera live on my hub and other days it will just refuse and it shows "not available". I wait a few hours and it comes back.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I'm sorry to hear you're running into an issue with your Nest Cameras and Doorbells streaming video to your Chromecast TVs. When attempting to stream to your Chromecast device, the system is returning the message: "Sorry! It looks like the stream is currently unavailable." I'm glad to help you.
To determine the most effective troubleshooting plan, could you please provide the following details?
I look forward to your response so we can get this resolved.
Regards,
Gabriela

Nest cameras are not streaming to Chrome cast devices as well as web streaming not working on IOS device.
When I ask my Google mini speaker to show me a nest camera on my chrome cast I get a “Sorry, it looks like the stream is currently unavailable from the (camera name).”
I tested this on multiple chrome cast devices and get the same message. I have restarted and updated everything including my router. Everything seems to be active as it’s all showing on my home app as working, it just won’t stream the media.
I then went to home.nest and can see the video tiles, but when I click on a feed from my phone (both is safari and Google Chrome) I get an error message to update my browser. In home.cooler it says cannot stream on IOS. My browsers are all up to date.
When I use my desk top computer, all streams work fine when I click into them.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Same issue. A number of users are reporting that this problem surfaced a few days ago. Others are reporting that streaming from Nest cams has been down for months. No response from Google.

Mine started about a week ago. That’s so unfortunate that my Amazon products are streaming my Google nest cameras but Google can’t. I hope they fix it eventually!

Hi there,
Thank you very much for contacting this community! I understand that you have not been able to stream the Nest Cams to multiple Chromecasts via Google Mini, where you only get an error that says "Sorry, it looks like the stream is currently unavailable from the (camera name)," and that streaming also fails on iOS despite everything being updated. For this, I also appreciate the time you took to perform some troubleshooting steps to try to resolve this situation. Don't worry, I'm here to help you!
I would like to ask a few questions to get more information so I can provide more relevant details regarding this situation:
What Chromecast device do you have?
Can you confirm the firmware version currently running on the Chromecast?
Have you noticed any updates to the Chromecast firmware or Nest Cameras around that time?
Have there been any changes to the network setup (new router, ISP, or configuration)?
What specific Nest Cam do you have?
Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.
Best regards,
Eduardo

it makes no difference. This problems has been reported by multiple users within the past few weeks, and it's on Google to fix it.

You are wasting everyone's time - the problem is GOOGLE, not what device/version/etc of (fill in the blank) we're using.... UGH

I have not a Chromecast 2nd and 3 gen
And I just purchased a Nest Indoor wired camera.
It will not stream to either

Hi there,
I understand your comments, and I know that many opinions have been generated regarding what has been happening. However, as I mentioned in the previous post, for us to proceed and confirm what is going on, it is essential that you provide the information for the questions. This is necessary so we can give you an effective response that meets all standards of excellence.

Perhaps you can answer this - is ANYONE IN THE WORLD able to stream cameras to their Google TV's at this point?

Eduardo.
Excuse me but... Essential and necessary for whom, and to what end?
The vast majority of threads in this community are characterized by exhaustive efforts to answer the same group of canned questions with all kinds of unfocused troubleshooting steps that lead nowhere.
The forum is then listed as "SOLVED" and closed without a solution, while the reported problem is relegated to the veritable dumpster load of permanent, unresolvable failures that characterize this product line.
I'm sorry.. it's not personal, but there's nothing essential about your questions. They are fillers. I refuse to answer them. I'm here simply to add to the chorus and to report a known widespread problem with Nest camera casting.
If the specialists in this community are volunteers who have no control of process, then thank you for your gestures of help and good faith, and please simply forward our complaints to product development.

I have explained extensively through the chat on facebook what devices I am using which they opened a claim and no one ever followed up with me on. I literally didn’t change a thing and one day I woke up and everything quit working. I reset my router, factory reset and re-set up my chromecast and even purchased a brand new one to ensure it wasn’t a hardware issue. They all are up to date and show working and connected in my apps, but not streaming. Further, all of my Alexa devices will stream the nest cameras. This all confirms it is 100% a Google software issue. Even if I detail each one of my cameras and each one of my chromecast devices you will tell me to ensure they are up to date and to check my internet. None of these are a solution when I’ve explained apart from writing the script myself, I have trouble shot everything I could. And I have a smart home, I’m very tech savvy.
The simple fact that in both safari and Google Chrome when I try to stream the video I get an update browser message (safari) or not compatible with IOS (Google chrome) when both browsers are up to date, shows a software issue. I’ve even updated to the latest IOS release and still have the same issue. When I log into a computer I have no issue. I don’t work in IT, but my conclusion is the nest cameras are not streaming to devices (ie iOS or chromecast) and it happened either when Google pushed an update a few weeks ago or when the AWS outage happened.
Also, can’t you just get into my Google account and see for yourself all of my devices???

Yes - identical problem!

what is the voice command to say to a mini to get a nest cam to show on the googletv4k?

Hi @eighty666,
Thanks for contacting the Google Nest Community. I understand you're trying to set up the ability to view your Nest Camera on your Google TV 4K and also use voice commands via your Google Nest Mini. I'm glad to assist you.
You can view live video from your Nest camera instantly, just by using your voice. Try saying, "Hey Google, show me my backyard camera," through your Google Nest Mini or Google TV voice remote.
For comprehensive setup instructions, please refer to this helpful article: Stream your Nest Camera video feed to a TV using a speaker or display.
Feel free to keep posting if you have more questions.
Regards,
Gabriela

no, that's not right.
it says the stream is not available. but it isn't unavailable. it's clear as day in the home or nest apps

When I go to my Home panel, I can see the thumbnails of my 3 cameras. When I click on one, the video shows full screen as a screen shot. The live audio streams to my TV correctly, but the video is frozen. Are others getting live video on full screen?

I deleted my prior reply (saying that I was experiencing the same issue). I dug a little deeper, and found that (on this network at least, 1 of 3 locations I have) my experience is the same as yours with my older cameras. I have 1 newer style camera, and it works correctly streaming through the Google Home app on my Google TV. . .

This just started in the last 24 to 48 hours.
Chromecast 4k ultra
All resets were done

This is a GOOGLE problem that just started a day or so ago. Factory reset, restarting router does nothing to resolve the problem. Happens on multiple TVs but front door still streams fine to Google displays or my Samsung phone NEST app.
Tuesday
Many outdoor and indoor cams - several Chromecast devices - immediately affected two connected homes. Performed Multiple Factory Resets; removing and reinstalling apps; resetting network several times.
Chromecast Google model: NC2-6A5.
ID: A4RNC2-685B
PLEASE - PLEASE- FIX!!!!

Google Cams ... .two steps forward two steps backward. It is like the current software developers have never run the old software because then always seem to have so many things that slip thru the cracks. For example when is Home.Google.Com going to show ZONE information.
10-29-2025 06:12 AM
@GabrielaG can we have a update, please? 🤣

I've already made the decision to switch to Home Assistant. I'm deeply invested in Google Home and have been tolerating this dumpster fire for years (widespread dysfunction, nonsensical UI, bizarre bugs, endless buffering, dropped connections, bricked devices, abandoned features, ridiculous app, forced migration, forced obsolescence, rising subscriptions) — pure garbage on a hot summer day that goes from bad to worse with no support or accountability. I have tolerated all of it, but they finally managed to silently knock out a critical core function, killing my camera feeds and putting my household at risk, and that's the last straw. I came on board as a believer, but never again will I trust Google. Home Assistant, here I come.

my order of tapo cameras arrives tomorrow. crazy a $10 aliexpress cam is now more functional than a $100 nest one. with no better integration anywhere than a 3rd party there is now zero need to buy or use anything from google
