Nest hello no power

I've had this nest hello for 4 years now and it has been working very well in the past. We had a power outage for about an hour yesterday and when the power came back, the nest never powered back up anymore. It is currently snowing and -2 C right now. I've read other people try bringing it inside and charging it using the usb port. I tried it and it powered back on. I tried to move it back outside after a few minutes of charging but it still didnt power on with the wired connection. How long do i need to leave it charging inside using the usb port?

It's now working. I had it charged indoors using the usb for an hour then brought it back outside and it worked. The first time, i only let it charge for 10 minutes before bringing it outside again so i guess it needed more time. It is just weird that the nest hello would not power back on with the transformer power but powers back on with the usb.

Hi Edward88,

Determine if there power from the transformer to the wires connected to doorbell. Test with a multimeter, or... Do you have a physical chime that rings when the doorbell button is pressed? If so, another way to test is to remove/uninstall the Nest Hello then touch the two wires together. If the doorbell chimes, then there is power.  If it does not, there could be a problem with the wiring or the transformer that feeds power to the doorbell button and chime. This of course will not work if there is not a physical chime.

If there is no power, check circuit breakers or if necessary replace the transformer.

If there is power you can try charging the doorbell via USB for a couple of hours to see if that makes a difference.
