Nest indoor cam

NicholasW
Community Member

Hi - I have a NEST indoor camera and recently the light turned red. The camera still works. I have tried removing the camera and adding it again but this hasn’t made a difference. Does anyone know what this means? Also my outdoor cam has stopped working. Again I have tried removing and adding it again but that hasn’t worked either!  Thanks for your help!

A red light means the LED light itself isn't working properly. The best thing to do is contact the Google Nest support team directly.

  1. Go to Contact Us - Google Nest Help
  2. Select "Camera", type a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
  3. Click "Other", then click "Next step" until you see the contact options.
  4. Choose to get a call or call or chat with the team as available in your country.

thanks very much.  I have contacted Google.  Unlikely they will replace the camera because it is out of warranty but they are thinking about it!  Thanks again.

thanks everyone, appreciate all your help.  I tried calling Google.  They were unable to fix the problem and because the device is out of warranty by a year they were not willing to replace it. But the camera still works - it is just the infrared lights. Thanks again.

Hi NicholasW,

According to the Google Nest help center link below a red LED means.....

LED isn't working properly

If there's a solid red status light, it means that the LED isn't working properly. Contact Nest support for help .

Camera LED status:
