@Indi

If you go to your Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) in the Google Home app and select "Live", do you get a "Live video unavailable" error?

If so, there are several posts in this forum about "Live video unavailable". On the first thread below, Google Nest said 4 weeks ago: "Our teams are aware of this behavior and are investigating."

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Cam-Battery-live-video-unavailable...

Note that, even when wired, the battery doorbell always runs off of battery power and is therefore usually in "Idle" mode. "If you’ve connected your Nest Doorbell (battery) to your existing doorbell wiring, the wires don’t directly power the doorbell. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge." (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989?hl=en)

Hi everyone,

@Indi Thanks for posting — let’s see our options to your concern.

To confirm, can your Nest camera record the events while live feed is off? Also, during the setup steps, do you still remember what you have selected about how you wanted to use the doorbell? There's a question there about "What will your new doorbell use for power? the options here are battery and wire terminals. If you have selected the battery even though the actual configuration is with wires, it will contradict your configuration with the Google Home app.

Keep me posted.

@MplsCustomer Thanks for the information.

Thanks,

Emerson

Hello Indi,

I understand the trouble that you have right now. Let's look further into this — A few questions: What is the battery percentage now of your Nest doorbell? If possible, can you send the screenshot of what you're seeing now from the Google Home App?

Give these steps a try:

  • Try resetting your Nest doorbell to the factory default. Click this link for the steps.
  • Next, remove the doorbell from your Google Home app. Just a reminder all the recorded events will be deleted as well. If in case you want to save some of your recorded events just hit this link.
  • Lastly, re-add your Nest doorbell to your Google Home App. If there's a wire connected to your Nest doorbell don't forget to select the "wire terminals" if it asks you "What will your new doorbell use for power?".

Looking forward for your response.

Regards,
Emerson

@Indi

There are numerous recent posts in this forum from customers who are reporting that they are unable to "live stream" and on some of those posts Google Nest Community Specialists have acknowledged that it is a known issue that Google Nest has been unable to resolve. It has NOT happened to us (yet).
