Hi. We've had Dropcams and Nest Cams for years. We recently upgraded the cameras to the new indoor wired NestCams. We noticed that we are now required to use the Google Home App for those and not the Nest App. Here are the three features I am struggling with at the moment:
1. How do I save a portion of the video that isn't contained in the "history" list? For example, my son does something cute but it isn't picked up as an event and listed under History. There is no button to export a portion of the feed that I want. How do I do it?
2. The Nest app was great with being able to slide scroll backwards from the current live moment backwards. I don't see that ability on the Goggle Home App which is pretty frustrating when the last even it picked up is several hours earlier and I just want to jump back a few minutes. Am I missing it?
3. Is there any way for me to view these cameras on my computer like Nest allowed?
Thanks for your help.

I am also looking for answers to these issues as well. Home app is not nearly as good as the Nest one for those reasons.

No this has not been addressed.

Hey folks,
Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.
However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.
Best Regards,
Brad.

@Brad
I'm not sure if you read the issues on this thread carefully. The issue is not that there are two apps. The issue is that the Home app is a terrible experience, especially when comparing the the Nest app.
The Home app is terrible at recognizing any movements. So, I'm missing tons of footage. For example, when my dog or I go into view of the camera, it won't record. Even when I have all motion settings turned on. With the Nest app, I can see all footage for a certain period of time and easily scroll back and forth. And also easily view the vents.
Is this going to change in the Home app so I can scroll back and see all footage for a certain period of time and not just the events?

Hi Brad. I echo @erikb sentiments. You aren't addressing the problem here.
Google made the decision to purchase Nest but does not appear to have made any investment into the Google Home app to bring over many of the features that made the Nest App so great. It wasn't an issue until I needed to upgrade my cameras recently. Since the new cameras only work on the Google Home App, I have lost many of the functions that made the hardware so great.
For example, there is no way for me to download a clip from the feed unless the app picked up "motion". That's a little ridiculous. People are buying these cameras for security and for ease of mind with their children. Even more riduclous is that I'm paying monthly for you all to save this in your cloud with no way for me to download what I want. I have missed a number of memerable moments with my children that I wanted to save but have been unable to since Google has not invested enough resources to update the app.
Even more frustrating is - unless I want to completely overhaul my house's entire infrastructure, I am stuck with these shortcomings. I have spent a fair amount of money outfitting my home with Nest products and then in turn Google Home products so it would be seamless. I was hoping that when it was announced that Google bought Nest that we would benefit from the brilliance of Google's platform designers and coders to only make our system better. Instead, it feels like Google bought the name Nest and really has only done the bare minimum to keep the system alive.
Your customers deserve better than this...
