SmartThings integration timeline with newest doorbell and cams

What is the latest on the SmartThings integrations?  I read this news article and was excited to add a number of cams to my house that could be integrated with SmartThings.

https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-smartthings-and-google-join-forces-to-enhance-smart-homes-wi...

Now I am reading that only the old ones integrate.  What is the plan Google?  I'm not investing if you're not integrating and going backwards.

Hi liddlelane,  I'm a home user of google products as well.  For what  it is worth here is my 2-cents.  That article came our in December of 2020.  And it basically means that any of the google camera hardware that works in the NEST app will now (for the most part) work with SmartThings.     However a few months ago when Google released the new line of cameras we also learned that they do not work at all with the NEST app and instead only work with the Google HOME app.  So far Google has only said that we can look for enhancements to the Google Home app sometime in 2022. But they have not said when in 2022 and nor have they said what those enhancements will be.

So rather than buying the new Nest cams I have been purchasing used Nest cams from Ebay and they work great.

One more thing:  The new cams also are NOT viewable from your computer.   That feature might be coming in 2022 as well.

Thanks EmptyNester!  That is a much better response than what I get when contacting Google directly. I was ready to purchase about $700 of Nest gear and I guess I'll look at other options now.  Just so frustrating that you spend more money on the latest technology and they take steps backwards in integrations.

I really wanted to use the cams' people/animal/car/etc recognition to help with better motion sensing automation in SmartThings.  Any other cams have recognition capabilities that you know of?

Where's the best place to get information on what Google is developing as you stated some things that may be coming in 2022?

Liddlelane, One more thing.  It is my understanding Eufy cameras are currently not compatible with the SmartThings app. They are compatible with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. If you have a Eufy camera and want to integrate it with SmartThings, you will have to find another smart home solution.

I am also a big fan of SmartThings and have it as well. But I don't miss having the Eufy cams in SmartThings.  The Eufy Security app is pretty good so I'm happy just using that app.

Hmmm, I post a long message about the Eufy cams but I don't see it now here in the thread.  I won't retype it all but here is a screen shot showing the cool down period on the Eufy cams.

Thanks again.  Hopefully the new "Matter" standard will solve these issues of interoperability.

Yes, I'd like to see the new cams integrated with SmartThings as much as the older Nest cams were. Motion alerts on cams should be sent to SmartThings so it can turn on the lights and whatever other automations needed.
