Suddenly 8 out of 10 Cameras offline at two different address

Zorb
Community Member

Suddenly, only 2 of 10 cameras work, at two different addresses at the same time. Restarted network/router, restarted all cameras. No network issues for other smart devices. 8 cameras suddenly offline at the same time - at two different homes, which indicates a software or firmware issue!

These non-working cameras include:

Doorbell (battery)

2x Outdoor floodlight cameras (wired)

5x Indoor cameras (wired)

No issues with network/power etc, just these stupid cameras appearing offline and will not reconnect despite all troubleshooting!

This thread (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Camera-Offline/td-p/728369) has the post below. I don't know why this is NOT reflected on the Nest Status page:

We're aware of an ongoing Google Nest outage that started on July 18, 2025, at 7:06 AM Pacific Time.

During this outage, you might experience issues such as your Google Nest devices appearing offline in your Google Home app or Nest app. This means you might not be able to view live feeds, access recordings, or control certain features of your cameras, doorbells, or other Nest devices.

Please be assured that our engineering team is fully aware of this issue and is actively working to resolve it as quickly

Saw no replies here.  Randomly, 2 out of 5, 3 out of 5 will show offline of a mixture of offline and no live view between the cameras.  Very strange.  No internet issues as the others are on the same LAN and router in the mesh.  No power issues either.  Also, the cameras showing offline or no live view will pickup on motion, and send me notifications.  So, the APP (Google Home) must be the issue [still].

My one out of three cameras is doing the same thing.  It is a wired floodlight camera and I put in a request to have someone call me and it did only to tell me that no one is available and to put in another ticket. I'm pissed!

I am having the same issue across three properties, which indicates to me this is a Google problem. Some cameras, but not all, are out across all three, including a thermostat. Currently on hold with Google. They need to get it together!

Yeah just this morning my Doorbell 2nd Gen Wired started showing offline - however it will still record and transmit an event, just the live feed is down.

My Cam/Floodlight on the same network is working normally though

Same issue on my end, one doorbell camera and one wireless outdoor camera. No other devices on the network have issues. Tried rebooting the router and reinstalling the app with no success

Same here. 2 out of 2 cameras offline.

I'm experiencing this frustrating issue too! My backyard camera, which is connected to power, is saying "video unavailable" despite still recording and detecting events. I can't get any live feed from it at all. I've already tried restarting both the camera and my router, and I've confirmed there are no internet issues on my end.

I have 7 cameras and my neighbor has 4 cameras both of us got several cameras went offline at around 11:50AM EST, I tried to reset (not factory reset) one of the 2nd gen battery and also one indoor nest cam, didn't help.  Both showed green LED after reset, meaning it's functioning fine and I confirmed my Unifi AP and my EdgeRouter dashboard, all these Nest Cams are connected with very strong WIFI and IP, always use Google DNS. Live view  just not working.  My neighbor with Asus router, rebooted it too (we have different Internet service provider), still the same.  Interestingly, only some cameras were offline, the rest seemed working fine. Come on Google...  we paid for the service, this is so bad. Free service like YouTube and Gmail are x100 more stable than paid service, unbelievable. This is NOT the first time happening.  Now, it makes me think I should sell all my Nest Cam and go with Unifi Protect with PoE.

Right after they announce the $50 annual price hike for Nest Aware. Awesome timing.

I just got off the phone with Google after waiting for 35 minutes on hold. After adamantly stating its a non internet issue I finally got them to admit its an internal issue. They said other people are calling about it too and they are working on a fix. Not sure how accurate that is since I reached a call center and not a tech actually at Google. She said to give it a couple hours and to call back if it still persists

I wish they could have let us know before I dug out my ladder and climbed to my roof.

I agree. It appears mine are back online, hopefully they stay that way

Having the same issue here:
My wireless (battery) doorbell seems the only thing working, but all other devices are unable to pull video. I actually had one of them up when things went sideways and it was showing me a live feed while the error was overlayed saying there was no video, but presently, all 4 indoor cameras are reporting as offline, despite the cameras' lights indicating otherwise.

same here, 3 cameras offline but they didn't all go offline at the same time. camera 1 went offline earlier this morning and then the other 2 went offline after power cycling my router. all 3 cameras can be pinged though. I work from home and can guarantee the Internet is working. I submitted 3 tickets, 1 per camera, requested phone calls and got disconnected each time because the pre recorded phone operator said there was no one available. gotta be an issue at Google itself, despite the nest status page saying all is okay.

EDIT: cameras came back online yesterday afternoon. outage was about 2 hours as per googles updates.

Same issue here. All our cameras are offline. Reset internet. They show connected on the router app.  Looks like a lot of people having the same issue… hope Google responds with how to fix it.

Google Cloud Platform had a major outage today.

https://status.nest.com/posts/dashboard showed everything online and operational during the outage.

https://status.cloud.google.com/regional/americas shows a major outage for us-east-1

Duration: 2 hours, 41 minutes
Last update:
18 Jul 2025, 11:03 PDT

Impacted products:
AlloyDB for PostgreSQL,Apigee,Artifact Registry +  44 more

Impacted locations:
us-east1

Questions to ask google: Why did it take 2 + hours to migrate cameras from trouter.weave-us-east1.production.nest.com to trouter.weave-us-central1.production.nest.com ? Where is my security footage that is missing for the duration of the outage?  Why are you jacking up the Nest Aware rates after multiple outages?  Why does the Nest Status page not reflect the issues at hand with GCP?  Why was support unreachable -- phone, chat, social media?  Where is my credit?

Thanks, very good info on 2nd link. I will bookmark this page.  1st link is always everything online regardless.  Does that mean all of us with PAID NestCam subscription customers are being put on the cloud servers where there is no redundancy?

So, the USA outage is not relevant to me, the original poster of this issue!

@Zorb

I hope they resolve the outage in Australia soon.

I think you may have posted in the wrong thread. This is about Google Cameras and Google Nest/Homs

looks like a few of my cameras are offline again! What is going on???

johnxconnor666

yup, one of my cameras is currently offline again.

Yes, me too....    Outage on Friday was fixed and now it's happening again on Monday morning! The most annoying part is the Nest health page and Google cloud page isn't showing any outage. This is very annoying.

still having issues

johnxconnor666

my cameras are functioning again but I don't have any timestamps. I was busy with work only able to periodically check. they're all working now though.

Me too.. I ignored it because I was working too and now it seemed they come back online.  I totally understand things happens but Google has been keeping customers in the dark all the time, this is not the first time. Now I begin to wondering if the Nest status health page is just a static HTML page always showing green no matter what.
