Switch Nest Cam Battery to new wifi network

ChrisJ

Hi all,

I'm helping a friend with a week old Nest Cam Battery camera that was in use on a wifi network and working fine being powered by battery only.

The problem is the house flooded and the wifi router was lost in the flood.  I have a new wifi network running and the internet is connected but everything I've done to try and reconnect to this camera has failed.

I have an older indoor camera and a Nest hub that reconnected fine but the new camera isn't.

I've tried doing a reset but I don't want to do a full reset as I was hoping to download any footage of the flood that may have been saved to the camera after the router went under.

I've been trying to add it as a new device and the Home app just tells me something went wrong and to try again.  I have had it plugged in to power while doing this.

It occurred to me a few minutes ago, would changing the SSID of the new router to what the old one was fool the camera?  I'm assuming not....

Hi ChrisJ,

If you can change the SSID and password of the new router to match the previous one's, it should automatically connect to your new router.

One possible solution:  Since you have a new router in place I think you may need to go into the GOOGLE HOME app and delete or remove the Doorbell from the app and then try re-adding it back as though it is a new camera.  Hope this helps.
