Transfer indoor camera to Home beta "offline"

AndrewPM

I just joined the public beta and I transferred numerous cameras including outdoor IQs,Hellos, and other indoor nest cameras. However, one is stuck in a weird spot. I can see it connected to my network through Wi-Fi with a strong connection. However, the Nest app shows it offline and so does the Google Home app. This situation started after I tried transferring it to the Google home app. No idea what to do now. I've tried power cycling it. I'm scared to remove it from my account and try to re-add it based on other feedback I've read in the forums.

Try disabling IPV6 on your router.  That is what solved a similar situation for me.  I was able to reenable it after the setup was complete.

IPv6 is off on the WAN port and disabled for the internal LAN.

It is strange, it is just 2 of 10 cameras having this issue.

HI @AndrewPM,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand 2 of your 10 Nest Cameras are appearing offline in both the Google Home app and the Nest app after you transfer them to the Google Home app Public Preview. I appreciate you detailing the steps you've already taken, including power cycling your Nest Cameras. No worries, let's work together to get this resolved.

Since the troubleshooting steps you've already tried haven't resolved the issue, returning your Nest Cameras to the Nest app is a solid next step. This often helps resolve connectivity issues that can occur during the migration process. Here's how to do it:

  • In your Nest Camera settings in the Nest app, tap Transfer from the Home app.
  • On the confirmation page, tap Continue.
  • On the About page, tap Transfer.
  • Tap Ok to return to the home page.
  • Wait for the transfer to reach completion, which might take approximately 30 minutes.
  • For multiple cameras: Repeat the previous steps for each camera that you want to transfer back to the Nest app.

@Cheezmo, thank you for your contribution.

Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I can't do the steps you outlined.

  • I only have "Transfer to the Google Home App" in the Nest app, and it also says the camera is offline in the Nest app. It is 100% not offline, as I can see the camera connected to the WiFi network via my network admin console.
  • The Home app says it is "transfering" but also "offline"

Hi @AndrewPM,

Thanks for your response.

Since you don't have the option to transfer your cameras back from the Nest app, please follow these steps to do it from the Google Home app:

  • In your Nest Camera settings in the Google Home app, tap Transfer to the Nest app.
  • On the confirmation page, tap Continue.
  • On the About page, tap Transfer.
  • Tap OK to return to the home page.

Keep me updated on how it goes.

Sincerely,
Jonathan

I can't do that either. In the Home app, the camera is listed as "transferring" and "offline".

In the Home app under settings I only have "Transffer to the Google Home app" and hitting that says it can't do it because the camera is offline.

The Home app thinks it is transferring and offline. The Nest app thinks it is transferring and offline. Neither app can do anything (transfer, cancel, etc).

The camera is connected to my network. I can see it. It was in the middle of transferring when this happened, and it seems to be stuck in the middle still.

HI @AndrewPM,

Thanks for your update. To keep investigating this migration issue with your Nest cameras, I have a few questions for you:

  • Can you tell me what model of Nest Camera you have? To check the model, please visit the following article: Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells.
  • Do your Nest Cameras show a green light?
  • Do your Nest Cameras capture events? You can check this by moving or making sounds in front of the camera and checking History in the Nest app or the Google Home app to see if an event was captured.

Please let me know the answer to these questions.

Regards,
Jonathan
