I have the same issue. I can only see a live feed for my cameras. Video playback does not work for me in the Nest App. With the Nest app, when I try to playback a video the video never loads and plays. Also, when I use access Nest from the browser I can only see the live feed. There is no option to playback.

I definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, and I wanted to make sure that your concern was acknowledged. Do you still need help with this issue?
