Hello, Lets check a couple things.
First confirm that you indeed are on the NEST AWARE PLUS. You can do this by going into the Google Home app and selecting the GEAR (settings) Icon on the lower right corner. Scroll down and tap on SUBSCRIPTIONS. Then tap on NEST AWARE and confirm at the very top is say NEST AWARE PLUS.
Next, if you just activated the subscription then it will take a number of hours to start accumulating the history. In other words you don't get any recordings from before you activated the subscription.
Now go to your devices and select the camera you want to view. At the top you will see the live image and under it you should see a time line that you can touch and scroll thru the 24/7 footage. If you don't see the time like then you might be seeing the clip-by-clip footage. Switch to the 24/7 timeline by touching on the little icon in the middle that looks like a vertical dotted line with a small square next to it.
If that doesn't work then make sure you are on the latest version of the Google Home app.
Let me know if that works. Once you get this far I can give you more info on saving clips. But I will tell you that the longest clip you can save is 5 minutes.

that is great news. Glad it worked for you. Hopefully more features coming from Google in the coming weeks and months. Please click RECOMMEND THIS ANSWER so it helps other people.

Thanks! I've confirmed on the Google Home app that Nest Aware Plus is in effect. I have a time line with time markers on it and can hop from event to event with the back-forward buttons.
I can hop between events with the |< and >| buttons. There's a non-event bar with a time on it .. and it's moving! The bar is moving up through time, I assume I'm viewing the video at the time indicated on the bar! Great!
Please, how to I get the 5 minute or less clip?
Thanks.

So is this what your screen looks like?
If it does then click on the 3 bars at the bottom right and then there should be a SAVE CLIP option. Click that and you will see how it works.

In the event mode(|-single box, NOT shown above), I do get a "Save clip" button and it works.
In the timeline mode (|-double box, shown above) I only get a s "Turn off" button, unless the cursor line is in an event, in that case only I get a "Save clip" .
My concern is that in the case of a break-in useful video information may exist outside of the event itself and I'll need to recover it.
Thanks!

Oh, okay, I think I know the problem. So the new feature that the Google Home app offers that lets you park the play head anywhere in the time line and save a clip is only available when you active the "Preview" option. This is Google's preview of the up coming features. Once you active it you should be able to see the SAVE CLIP option all the time. There are some other new features as well including moving your Nest GEN 1 cams into the new Google Home app. I don't recommend doing that just yet. (more on that in a different conversation).
To active the PREVIEW mode once again to into the Google Home app and hit the SETTINGS (Gear) in the l lower right corner. Scroll down until you see PUBLIC PREVIEW and click it and request to join. This might be instant or it might take 24-48 hours to activate. I think you can repeat the above steps to get an update as to whether the preview is actually activated. But if you see the SAVE CLIP all the time (like in my screen shot) then it is working. Once you click on SAVE Clip you will be asked how much time you want to save in 30-second increments up to 5 minutes. NOTE that it will save the clip in your iPhone Photos and then it is up to you to take it from there.
Let me know if it works.

I'm in "Public Preview"; the only button I see is "Leave Public Preview". I'll try again tomorrow, thanks!

Did you just join public preview today? Or have you been in it for a number of days?
Also, let check the version of the Google Home app you are on. I'm on version 3.12.104. To check it go back to the SETTINGS and select the SUPPORT tab and it will tell you.

My version is 3.11.1.10. Today, I tried downloading Google Home from the PlayStore. The version offered was 4.2 and it would not update my version. I haven't been on Preview before.

My version is NOW also 3.11.1.10, thanks! The Save Clip is working with a variety of save times on offer.
Thanks for your patience and skill; it makes Nest Aware Plus "worth it" for my application!

You can also try going to takeout.google.com, selecting Nest, advanced, video, and download from there.

I was able to to download the Nest information, no problem, with a slight delay.
Under /Nest/camera/structure.xxx.../AAAA/event_sessions I find a series of .jpegs but no MP4's. Maybe I need to request MP4 formats somewhere.
What a treasure-trove of data!
