I recently switched wifi providers and when I tried to update the wifi network on my chromcast Gen 1 from the Google Home app I could not find the option to do so. I literally did everything, updated the app, re installed the app and still no luck so I decided to remove my gen 1 from google home app and re connect it back but now the app isnt location my chromecast. I am very frustrated because I held the little back button until it turned red and restarted it but still No luck. Please I need help with this. Im getting to the point where Im thinking I might just need to buy a new one which I do not want to do.
Thank you

Hi, just some layman ideas...
For factory reset perhaps you need to hold the reset button still a bit longer (25-30 seconds), until it turns flashing white. Then it should restart after releasing the button and you can set it up fresh.
You might also try to connect the Chromecast to a wifi with your previous network's name and password. I guess it might still connect there and you might be able to do something with it (including factory reset from the Home app).
f you are setting it up again as a new device, I suggest changing the device name in the app slightly. I recall having some issues when using a name twice (but that may have been due to my own mishap too 😉). Good luck.

AlejandraH, how's it going? Have you tried the suggested steps provided by PLV? Do you still need help with this?
Thanks,
