Cant connect chromecast 1st gen with my Pixel5

I have my Google Pixel5 with Google home app and Device utility app and i cant activate my first gen Chromecast. I connect to the temporary chromecast wifi spot and then ho to Devise utility app and it sais cant connect

Hi Karleone,

 

Thanks for reaching out. Have you tried to use another non-Pixel phone to set up your device? If you haven't yet, please try that if one is available. Also try the steps below:

 

  1. Open the Device Utility app.
  2. Allow Location access.
  3. Turn on Bluettoth.
  4. Disconnect from the Wi-Fi network. Here's how: Tap Wi-Fi Settings at the bottom right to go to your Wi-Fi settings > Tap the network you're connected to, then disconnect or forget the network. If the phone or tablet automatically connects to other networks, disconnect or forget those networks as well > Return to the Device Utility app > Continue with the activation steps. [Note: Make sure you did not turn off Wi-Fi on your phone. You should disconnect or forget saved Wi-Fi networks but not turn off Wi-Fi completely].
  5. Wait for the app to look for devices to activate. 
  6. Activate the device:
    a. If there is only one device, tap Start at the bottom right. 
    b. If the device found is wrong, tap Activate a different device
    c. If there are multiple devices found, tap the device you want to activate, then tap Start.
    d. If the devices found are wrong, tap Activate a different device.
    e. If there's no device found: Check if the device is powered on and if you're close to it > Tap Retry
  7. Follow the rest of the steps prompted in the Device Utility app (almost the same as the setup steps in the Google Home app). Once the device is activated, the setup continues in the Google Home app to finish the steps.
