Chromecast icon disappeared from TV

Not sure I have ID'ed the correct issue, but my grandchild pulled the chromecast out of the TV USB port (TV is a Sony KV55EX500) and the chromecast icon no longer appears on the TV.  It is connected at HDMI 2.

Chromecast is being run via Android phone.

We have tried numerous fixes but nothing has worked so far.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi NannyMcFee,

Thanks for reaching out. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: is the Cast button missing in one app or multiple apps? What's the LED status on your Chromecast? Is the router within 15 to 20 feet (four to six meters) of the Chromecast device?

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure you're casting from a Chromecast-enabled app.
  2. Completely close the app(s) and then reopen.
  3. Make sure the app you're using for casting is updated.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the affected apps.
  5. Reboot your router.
  6. Reboot your Chromecast.
  7. Forget the Wi-Fi network on your mobile device and reconnect.
  8. Try to cast from another mobile device to isolate if it's a device issue.
  9. Reboot your mobile phone.
  10. Factory reset your Chromecast.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Jennifer
