Within last couple days, unable to cast (Netflix). After factory reset the Chromecast, seems all is good. Device found and select to connect. But, keep getting "... couldn't authenticate your Chromecast"

Yes we are having the same problem.  Did you find a resolution? 

Same here. Sudden loss of chromecast. After factory reset, not able to authenticate chromecast. Total b.s.

Hi, unfortunately I have not. Have resorted to HDMI cable from laptop to TV if I want to watch anything on big screen. Wonder if it's because I'm using 1st gen Chromecast ..

Same here. At sunday Netflix gave an error after trying to connect to Chromecast. Yesterday (monday) I noticed that nothing could connect to Chromecast. Did a reset, now can't get it to work with Google Home due to authentication failure. Tested at friend's place with her wifi to make sure it's not my home network that's at fault, but no good, same error. My guess is that Google pushed an update that broke Chromecast for some people. Question is, how to get it fixed, as in current state my Chromecast cannot access internet for updates.

Edit: In case someone's actually reading these I'm doing an edit. Reason wasn't Google breaking Chromecast with update. Things broke because they didn't update - a certificate inside Chromecast expired.

Anche a me da ieri da il seguente errore: "Impossibile autenticare il dispositivo Chromecast. Visita il sito support.google.com/chromecast per ricevere assistenza per la risoluzione del problema. Ok"

Ho provato a resettare la Chromecast, riavviare il cellulare, il router, reinstallare app Google home e il problema rimane sempre. Google fatti viva a darci spiegazioni! Grazie

Mine stopped working as well. TV recognised it Google home app finds it but won't finish installation do to it can't authentication

Chromecast said not to reset to factory settings, if already done so we have to wait until they’ll fixed the issue and then they will advice us what to do 👍

I'm in the same boat. I changed my WiFi and had problem with both chromecasts, but managed to get the bedroom one working fine, tried livingroom again and no good. This was Sunday. Finally thought I'd try a factory reset after waiting for support to phone me back on Sunday and this morning, still waiting, and apparently chat doesn't exist on the link in the app?

 

Now seeing I shouldn't have done the reset, going by what someone above has said, so that's grand 😏

Having same issue. Tried to reboot the device. Re set up chrome cast stil the same with we cant aunthenticate your chromecast. Using gen 2 device... please advise for resolution. Thanka

I had the same issue but if you reset you phone/ipad date to before 9 March, you should be able to set-up chromecast.. but that being said, it is still not connecting to netflix for me

Doing this did work for me to add it back into the home app. But like you I am still unable to cast to it. 

How to reset to a date ? , I am also facing same issue

You open up your phone or tablet's settings and change the date of the device to one in the past. I changed mine to the 7th of march set it up then changed it back to current date. 

I changed date and setup ,Chromecast setup done , but unable to stream from apps it says outdated firmware detected. So not able to use it , so waiting for the bug to fix 😔

Thanks for the info. At least can make Chromecast able to connect net and load update on its own once update is published.

Edit: Nope. Yes, able to setup Chromecast, but it doesn't connect to wifi.

Same here ..since past 48 hours not able to authenticate my Chromecast..it says Chromecast is connected but not authenticate.

No response from Google for the ticket till now. Almost 2 days . Just says In progress . But no reply .no positive sign till now.may be they stopped the Chromecast usage not sure

Agh. Just did a reset, looked up the authentication error, now I'm here. Can't connect, so it won't be able to receive any update, probably bricked I guess.
