I have noticed the same thing a few weeks ago. It has never cleared up and I have searched the forum for some solution but Google has not answered. It is infuriating that this persists with 0 resolutions for a year. There must be an issue with their AI that occurred with an update.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response, and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I understand how upsetting this may be, and I'm happy to assist you with this. I have a great troubleshooting article for familiar faces I would suggest you take a look at and go through. I believe it may be helpful in this case.

Best regards,
Brad

It would be more helpful if you addressed the actual issue with a solution instead of pointing us to a how to guide for a completely unrelated topic.

Hi Benlau88,

We’re sorry to hear that but we appreciate your efforts here. Let’s have a better look — a few questions: when did the issue start? Does it happen intermittently or persistently? Are there any Activity Zones set up for the camera? Were there any changes to the WiFi network? Also, has the camera been moved recently?

Create separate zones for areas where you expect events to happen and where events can be ignored.

Here’s how:

  • On the Google Home app
    • Select the camera you want to set up Activity Zones for.
    • On the top-right, tap Event.
    • Tap Seen events.
    • Tap + Add a zone to create zones.
  • On the Nest app:
    • Open the Nest app and select the camera you want to set Activity Zones for.
    • Tap Settings Settings.
    • Select Activity zones.
    • Tap Create zone. The new zone appears in the middle of the screen.
Tip: For a better view, set your phone’s orientation to landscape mode for a full screen view of the camera.

To learn more about creating Activity Zones, check out this guide: Set up and use Activity Zones.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

It seems to have corrected itself. It has not identified a car as a person in a week.

Yes, it seem like my is the same. Finger crossed

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

The nest aware subscription claims it can detect vehicles.  It is false advertising

Hello everyone,

@Benlau88 this is not the experience we want you to have and I know that you've been through a lot of troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue. To confirm, have you tried resetting your Nest Doorbell to the factory default and re-setting your activity zones? Remember that after the reset, all of your recorded events will be removed as well.

Keep us posted.

I appreciate the help, Brad and JT.

Regards,

Emerson

My problem has come back again. Apparently Google have no fix for it in my opinion.
