I disabled the Self-organizing network (SON) on my wifi router to have separate 2.4 and 5 GHz networks b/c another device needed to connect to a 2.4 GHz network. Now all my Home devices (cameras and lights) cannot connect. Im reading in the Nest community "In the Home app, Wi-Fi information for cameras and doorbells can’t be updated, so you’ll need to factory reset your device and set it up again in the app. In most cases, you’ll remove your device from the app and add it back."
Is Google really saying I need to factory reset my entire phone just to change Wifi networks? Why would I want to do that? That isnt a solution, that's a bug. Am I reading that correctly?

Hey there,
Restarting and factory resetting your Google Nest camera or doorbell will have different results:
Restart: Keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble reconnecting to the internet, or isn't working normally.
Factory reset: Erases all your settings and options, and restores its factory default settings. It will not automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi and you'll need to set it up again.
You can find this information, plus additional information on this process here.
Best Regards,
Brad

Ok so I have to factory reset the cameras and backup all the footage I want - just to change the wifi network? Why?

I would suggest Restarting the device first, if you still have the issue, then try to factory Reset it if you cannot change your wifi channel.
