Hi @Eddunnington!

Thanks so much for reaching out to the community. I understand you've been experiencing issues connecting your Nest Protect to the application. Thank you for letting me know you've already tried some troubleshooting steps! Let me handle this for you from here.

To provide you with more accurate steps, I need some information about your issue before we continue.

  • When and from where was the device purchased?
  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device?
  • What’s the color of the LED status light?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there any other devices that experience issues with the Wi-Fi?
  • Did you get any error code?

Once you have this information, I'll be more than happy to assist you!

Best regards,

Debora

Hi @Eddunnington,

Thanks for the information! I appreciate it. I'm just curious about something: you mentioned having four smoke detectors. By any chance, do you recall when you purchased them? Specifically, are all of them ten years old or older?

The reason I ask is that Nest Protect has a limited lifespan. Fire safety experts recommend replacing all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms every ten years. This is due to the age of the sensors and is calculated from the manufacture date, not the purchase or installation date. This applies to all smoke and CO alarm products.

If you remember the warranty date for your devices, or if any might be less than 10 (or even 7) years old, please let me know. With that information, I can explore troubleshooting steps for you.

Best regards,

Debora
