Instead of gently twisting the nest protect on the ceiling to line up the back clips to the openings on the mounting bracket, it looks like one of the smoke alarms was simply pulled off. This broke 2 of the 3 clips that attach the next protect gen 2 to the mounting bracket. Is there a way to get a new back plate for the nest protect. Just to clarify this is not in reference to the mounting plate that is screwed into the ceiling, but the back part of the device itself. Is there a way to get a replacement?
Thanks

You could try contacting Support to see if they'll provide a replacement:
1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Google Nest doesn't offer the back cover of the Protect for sale.
I would file a claim with the contractor and have them buy you a replacement.
